Marking place - thanks for the new thread!

KanyesVest · 31/12/2016 17:30

Checking in to make sure I go for my run tomorrow! Happy new year, athoners, looking forward to you all keeping me motivated in 2017!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/12/2016 18:53

Placemarking Smile. Goal for 2017 is to do some proper exercise 3x week in termtimes and 2x week in school holidays.

NotStoppedAllDay · 31/12/2016 20:12

I want to

Run silverstone half marathon
Run reading half marathon
Run our new local half marathon
Run Milton Keynes 5k superhero run with ds

Maybe try out a local boxercise class

LordPeterWimsey · 31/12/2016 20:18

I feel pretty feeble in comparison to that, NotStopped! My goal is to bike to work and back at least twice a week (11 miles each way, so if I do it two days, 44 miles), and to do a Jillian MIchaels DVD at least four mornings a week. I'm working through Body Revolution at the moment and will move onto Bodyshred, which looks totally evil, once I finish it.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/12/2016 21:29

I'm feeble in comparison with all of you! I am going with an achievable goal, I hope. I do love this thread though as it makes me a lot more motivated.

ElizaBB · 31/12/2016 21:57

Can I join for accountability please ? I could just about manage a Parkrun but not have been since the spring due to other commitments and have not run 5k since the autumn. I was slow but steady ! My post Christmas weight must be up and I need a kick up the backside.

OublietteBravo · 01/01/2017 14:31

Hello everyone - Happy New Year!

I've just done my first session of 2017 and my first NMTZ (no more trouble zones) since - erm - August? I expect I'll feel it tomorrow.

This year I'm going with the following targets:

  • at least 200 hours of exercising;
  • exercising on at least 250 days.

Running totals:
Time: 50 mins
Days: 1

This looks good if anyone is looking for something challenging, but low impact:

Yoga Meltdown L2 done. First workout of 2017! Neck was a bit sore so I had to go a bit carefully on some of the moves, but otherwise I seem to be over the after-effects of coming off my bike - I've been lucky.

KanyesVest · 01/01/2017 22:03

Did my 10k and was still over 1km from home, so 11.25km today. I'm delighted, I did the 10k in 66:28 which is utterly baffling to me. I really can't move that fast! I'm taking it as a good omen for my newyearathon!

Happy 2017, here's to good health and good exercise Star

Wildernesstips · 02/01/2017 09:29

I will join in again. I have always been a bit over ambitious and then get despondent when I fail. So this year, I am taking a more measured approach. I am writing an exercise goal in my diary each week: this week it's 2 X walks, 1 X Pilates.

KanyesVest · 02/01/2017 09:46

Hi Wilderness.

My bafflement has been explained and I'm as slow as I thought. There was a glitch in my matrix and my 10k was closer to 76mins than 66. Oh well, better one slow than not at all, and I would have been delighted with that time before I left the house. I guess 66 gives me something to aim for Hmm

randomsabreuse · 02/01/2017 11:09

I'm planning a month of daily exercise to start the year - then I want to get my park run pb under 30 minutes (Christmas Eve 30.08 - those 8 seconds are so annoying!!!) Longer term goals are 5k under 25 minutes, trail 10ks in a respectable time and 10 k mud run under 1hr 30. Still debating whether to aim for an autumn half marathon or a tough mudder though - will see how weight loss goes - not doing over 10k until my weight is closer to 70kg.

As my initial month I'm also doing some 30 day challenges - plank, abs, squats and push ups. Plus daily maintenance yoga.

I'm either doing 30 day shred, running or power yoga depending dh's work. Started with basic yoga yesterday and have started the intermediate squats challenge on my phone.

OublietteBravo · 02/01/2017 17:19

OMG - I can certainly tell that I used unfamiliar muscles yesterday. My inner thighs ache so much today!

I'm afraid I was lazy and went back to one of my regular short workouts today: Killer Abs L1. Still, better that than a rest day I suppose.

Cumulative time: 1h 20min
Days: 2

Body Rev workout 3 done - with very light weights just in case I had any residual shoulder damage, but I seem to be OK and shall be back to normal weights tomorrow.

Kanye, you're still way ahead of me! I think I'm reasonably fit overall, but I can't run more than about 100 metres.

Wildernesstips · 02/01/2017 18:13

5.3 k country walk. Took an hour and it feels so good to get out in the fresh air.

I have joined the #walk1000miles Facebook group - I know I will be unlikely to complete it because I can't commit every lunchtime to an hour's walk and I have a commute too. But, I would like to track my progress to see how much I achieve.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/01/2017 18:16

6k run today.

Realised today that, aside from stops for injury and Xmas, I've been exercising regularly for 4 months. Really starting to notice the difference when running Smile. I don't hate it anymore although I wouldn't say I like it.

Instead of concentrating every second on how much I hate it I can get into that pleasant state that I'd forgotten about where I let my mind go blank or wander or try to solve problems (like what on earth to do about the essay topic I'm stuck on!).

Ankle still achy though so I'll never be a proper runner. Will have to force myself to do a DVD next time I think, which I still sort of hate!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/01/2017 18:19

Also hi to new people and sorry about your time Kanye! Still not a bad time though!

sailinggirl1780 · 02/01/2017 19:37

Please can I join, have lurked on the running threads for over a year now! I need some goals, and motivation! I have been off work since 23rd and have run 3 x park runs, 2 x 10 mile runs and many long dog walks in between! Feeling great and wondering how I'll keep it going once I'm back at work!
Goals are to get under 25mins on park run, currently 26.18 on a flat course, and to run a half marathon.

DeliciousIrony · 02/01/2017 19:43

Waves Happy new year everyone; I'm planning on restarting some sort of exercise routine tomorrow, after a hiatus over Christmas. Currently sipping leftover prosecco on the sofa, so definitely not going to get anywhere tonight...

LordPeter I'm not planning on starting Bodyshred for a little while as I'm a bit nervous of it - let us know when you finish Body Rev, maybe we can do it together!

KanyesVest · 02/01/2017 22:27

Hello to everyone! Its great to see so many on the thread.

I am obviously the saddest bastard ever really missing my weights classes - I dreamt about kettle bells last night Blush. Luckily aldi had them in today so I went and bought one. I did 50 swings and some squats, lunges, etc to get myself back into the feel of it. No excuse to not do some weight work now.

Hello oub and everyone

I liked your target of 300 days exercise last year but I think it's a bit too much so I am going to go with 250 orc5 days an average week.

Total so far: 0 hours 😬

randomsabreuse · 03/01/2017 11:17

Yesterday was ok - not fab as DH was busy with work and DD was demanding. Did 30 day squats (intermediate plus where I got to on beginner), abs, push ups and plank. I also discovered I can't do push ups with 17 month old leaning on my bottom... didn't manage cardio.

Today has started better. All 30 day challenges from yesterday plus have added in the be fit 30 day fat burn after wasting ages on you tube looking for something to do as well as 30 day shred to make up for yesterday - don't want to overdo the impact with 2 shreds in 1 day. Decided I prefer that one so far so will add the shred in when I don't manage other cardio and will go up levels when I get bored. So will need to shred later today but ironing, tidying, cleaning and mending need some attention first.

What exercise DVDs do people recommend - probably looking for HIIT/cardio biased rather than pure abs. Have a Christmas amazon voucher burning a hole in my mantlepiece...

KanyesVest · 03/01/2017 13:44

Wow ransom, you have an impressive regime going!

Back to work today and going to see my niece in panto tonight so I squeezed in a 4km run at lunchtime.

Total km: 15.25
