30 Day Shred - Who's doing it? Have you lost weight?

Hi everyone

I have the 30 day shred DVD but have never done it. I've put on a lot of weight recently and feeling awful. I have a holiday in just over 8 weeks and I'm desperate to lose as much as possible in that time. I'm planning healthy meals but though 30 DS might help - I'd love to hear from people who are doing it/have done it. Did you lose weight? How much? How soon did you notice a difference? Please motivate me!

xx

Bumping this for you as I bought the shred dvd on eBay last night and had similar questions! Also looking for any 'tips'.
Don't technically need to lose weight but would like to tone up and I've gone off running a bit!

I lost a LOT of weight for my wedding doing the Shred every night. I also had grilled chicken and veg for lunch everyday though! Bit dull.

I done the 30 day shred after my second child 4 years ago, really really helped me lose weight and tone up. Google "30 day shred before and after photos" for some motivation

I lost almost 4 stone in total by eating better (and smaller portions) doing the 30 day shred, trying to walk more and playing the odd game of squash. All within a 6-9 month period (can't remember exactly how long it took)

Good luck

Sorry, I didn't lose 4 stone in 6 months, I lost 3 in about 9 months, took me ages to get the last stone off tho as I stopped exercising

I've lost weight doing it but I had to alter my diet also. You won't lose weight by just exercising.

Cut back on manufactured carbs and sugary stuff plus watch portion size and you will lose weight and firm up. I almost had a six pack when I'd finished!!

Ah this is interesting stuff. I'm half heartedly following slimming world too so hoping the combination helps.
I've been looking into weights but not sure how heavy to go? Planning to start with tins!

I've decided I'm going to start the shred again today, got a bit of holiday weight to lose, 2 weeks in America and I've put on half a stone!

Hi all

Thanks so much for the motivating replies! I'm feeling so low about how much weight I've put on. I lost quite a bit last year and went on holiday in December feeling good. I've since put most of it back on and going away in December again and feel terrible. Your posts are all so positive. Tomorrow it is exactly two months until my holiday so I will start and hope I can stick with it! It's great to hear from others doing it too, keep posting!!

I've done it twice. Between DCs and just finished recently post-DC2. Overweight to start with (BMI 26-27) both times I lost 10-14lbs and got back into healthy range.

I had to diet pretty hard along side to get it to work and I tend to do rest days every 7days or so or my knees can't take it.

I'm massively more toned and even though I'm still at the upper end of healthy BMI I look a lot trimmer than I weigh.

I'm back to work from mat leave in a week, going to try and maintain doing a shred 3 days a week.

I did it a couple of months ago and got a toned stomach for the first time in years. Wish I'd kept it up!

I did it for 11 days is a row I didn't loose any weight but I lost one inch off my waist and 2 inches off my hips! I looked much more tonned after only 11 days then quit Hmm

I'm thinking of stating it again but couldn't find it tonight so did jullians hard body instead which was 45 mins so abit boring! I think shred is great and if you don't loose weight you will Atleast look better for your bikini!

Keep posting it helps to have support xx

I couldn't wait for the dvd to come (Hmm) so just did the first one off YouTube and I survived! Legs feel a bit like jelly. I need something heavier than tins too I think but can't face getting proper weights.
Taken some before pics and measurements too..

I have done 2 days of the Beginner Shred DVD - I'm totally unfit and very overweight so starting out easy!

I already ache all over, especially my thighs. Determined to stick with it this time. Need to lose about 4 stone!

I've always found day 3-5 the worst. Keep going!

The aches are setting in a little in my thighs I've got to say. When she said they should be burning at least I knew I was doing it right I suppose!
Still need to perfect the sit up- I am sure I strain my neck but not sure what to do about it!

Wow I didn't expect to ache this much after one day! Going to attempt day two soon...

Hi I miss doing now, on day 7 but have been doing it over 10 days with two breaks.
Your endurance does increase but day 5-6 the cardio was hard, jumping jacks and skipping rope in quick precession made my legs like jelly.
I really really hate side lunges with arm raises.
I force myself to do it, I have tried twice before and quit but this time I'm saying no.
So far I have lost one inch on my arm and one on my waist but nothing on my hips.
My stomach does feel more toned as well.
The pictures I've taken don't show any improvement yet though.

After day 3 it doesn't really ache anymore. I actually like to feel the ache the next day so that I know I've really worked out but I've heard that when you start level 2 it's like starting from the beginning again.
For sit-ups you have to look at the ceiling and put your hands behind your ears, pull in with your stomach, after a couple you can feel it in your stomach.

TheLionQueen · 06/10/2016 10:02

I've just done day two and it felt hard at first as I was achey but got into it. I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds jumping jacks and skipping rope hard! I do have a couple of seconds rest.
I get the theory of sit ups but I can definitely feel it more in my neck than my tummy. Will bite the bullet and ask DH to help me with form later..

Good work! I didn't find level 2 makes me so achy but is just harder to do.

I did a level 3 yesterday after a 4 day break because I'd hurt my shoulder and nearly died (i hate to be this person but you'll be BEGGING for star jumps and skipping rope!!). It's really hard with a toddler wanting to crawl under me when I'm trying to do press-uppy moves!!

Back to work next week after mat leave. 4dpw and 1 day wfh. My commute is long so I just can't make time for the shred. Going to try and do level 1, 2, 3 on each of the days I'm not commuting.

lion queen I've done level 1 a few more times than I've done the whole thing (😳) I usually can see a difference by day 7-10 but don't really lose actual weight until day 11-15 when it suddenly drops off (and only if I diet too).

Oh I'm glad you replied tango I was worried I had killed the thread Blush
Oh gosh does it get really hard?! I was surprised at how much I struggled but in a good way- hopefully this means I'll see results.
You're going to do all three? Shock that's dedication. Your working days sound long so not surprising if you can't fit it in.
I don't have DC to hinder me yet so hats off to anyone that manages this with kids. Suppose that's the beauty of it only being 20 mins.
I haven't actually weighed myself as from what I've read it seems to be inch loss rather than weight and didn't want to get disheartened.
Hoping to fit day 3 in this afternoon!

Tangoandcreditcards · 07/10/2016 09:08

Ha! No i meant one level each day that I'm not commuting. The alternative would be bonkers.

I find the first 3-5 days of each level really difficult - I often skip a few reps even when doing the "easy" moves (some Natalie moves are just impossible I think!!) - but after 6 days or so I find it getting easier. I do find if I take more than 2 rest days it's like going back to the start - but I want to keep working out when I go back to work coz I'm quite pleased with the results and don't want to lose them. Let's see how long my resolve holds!

I'll keep cheering you on! Push through the aches and it's so worth it. (Urgh I'm so indoctrinated I sound like Jillian!)
