Running again after C Section - how long, how did it feel, etc?

I was running 4-5k two or three times a week before falling pregnant. Had a lot of early bleeding so stopped running and never picked it up again. I'm now six weeks post EMCS and starting to think about how soon I can pick it back up again, without being silly. But I sm keen to shift the spare stone and a bit I'm carrying.

Anyone done this? How was it? How soon after? How did you start?

I was running roughly the same amount as you before I got pregnant and was keen to get back into it ASAP. I went for a jog after my 6 week check (which happened at 7 weeks) and felt like I'd been hit by a bus. I was in agony.

Afterwards my GP told me you should really wait until 20 weeks after an EMCS before doing anything really high impact, but I was able to run pretty comfortably at around 14 weeks.

Good luck!

Thanks. It does actually feel a bit soon - it does still feel a bit sore if I've overdone it. I think 12 weeks might be more realistic, but I'm chomping at the bit to get out and hopefully feel a bit less stodgy and lethargic. Going to try some brisk walking in the meantime.

I started some postnatal videos at 6 weeks, buggy fit at 10 weeks and ready for a mainstream exercise class (circuits) at 5m. I'd had undiagnosed SPD which had me unable to leave the house of my own accord, and that followed directly after the 1st tri exhaustion nausea phase, so I started building up from nothing, literally walking 100m to the post box and back then lying down for an hour to recover- that was from 10 days. By a couple of months, I'd built up to walking a couple of miles.
I wasn't a runner then.
