Exercise

I completed day 1 of c25k today - thank you MNers! I have a question though.

I've attempted this a couple of times in the past but never completed the 8 weeks.

I decided to start again as I did enjoy it and love how easy it is to fit in rather than going to a gym or classes.

I lurked on here for a while reading the other threads about it and decided to download the app the other day and went today. The most important piece of advice I took from it was SLOW DOWN. This has obviously what's scuppered me in the past. I'd been practically sprinting Blush

I haven't done ANY exercise in many years and managed this today with relative ease. I'm really looking forward to my next attempt!

My question is that about 2-3 months ago I started having some outer hip pain that I've never had before. Some days are worse than others. Went out today and was okay while out but now I'm back the pain has increased about 4 fold. I'm really concerned this means I may have to stop?!

I had a baby 5 months ago, unsure if this could be related to the hip pain.

Any ideas?

Bumping in case anyone has advice about whet I should stop because of the pain in my hip or okay to carry on.

I haven't personal experience of C25K, apart from recommending it to patients as an approach to exercise where they aren't keen (or can't afford) gym membership. However, if you are getting pain from doing this, then you would be best advised to get this checked by your GP. Psin is the body's way of signalling distress, so best not ignored. It could be that, as your muscles strengthen through exercise that this will resolve as you get fitter, but, on the other hand, you don't want to exacerbate a problem.
Best take things gently at first, stop when the pain starts and get an appointment to see your GP.
Well done for starting the programme-hope you succeed.

I think your only answer is to see a doctor. I guess having a baby could be related to the pain, my hips are all weird and clunky when doing some excercise but they're improving.
Anyway, pain is usually a signal to slow down or stop so see what the doctor says

My hips hurt for about 18 months after having a baby during / after exercise. I'm only just managing runs and more intensive stuff. I did have spd and a c section though.

I've completed week 1 but my hip has been really sore after it.

Have done 30 day shred the past 2 days with no increased hip pain so I think I might have to give running a miss for a while.
