Funny turn after run

I started the zenlabs C25k in May and completed it a couple of weeks ago. I have run a couple of 5k's since and have just started the 10k training.

On Saturday afternoon I embarked on the next session, it was warm (I normally run in the evening) but I managed ok. I felt fine when I got home, did some stretches and had a shower etc . Anyway, about 45 mins after getting back my eyes started getting really blurry, and I felt a bit light headed. I told DH who gave me one of his energy boost sachet thingy's he got from Men's Health, a drink and something to eat and I gradually started to feel better.

Any idea what caused that to happen? I'm a bit worried it could happen while I am out running on my own in the middle of nowhere and I wouldn't have anything to make it better. Thanks.

Did you have something to eat in the couple of hours before you ran?

I always try to have a banana about an hour before a run to give me an extra burst of energy, if you hadn't eaten that might have made you feel faint. Also it is very hot at the moment and it can make you feel ill. I went out last night at about 5.30pm and it was a real struggle and I felt a bit light headed too.

It sounds to me though that you perhaps needed a bit of sugar, hence why a banana before a run can really help.

I'd say being hydrated and having fuel in you too. I often run early in the moring or have circuits so will have a small sugary drink as my system can't cope with being on empty or digesting much.

Eating something soon after you get in can help too.
