Weightlifting : has anyone successfully followed a programme designed for men?

I have followed a couple of programmes designed for me by a PT, and I have also looked at the New Rules of Lifting for Women.

I will need a new programme in the next 4-6 weeks and I was thinking of trying something readily available (like Starting Strength, etc.) to save a bit of money.

Most of these seem to be designed for men, and for the purpose of gaining mass.

I want to burn fat and increase strength but I am not sure how to adapt these programmes for my goals, or even if it's possible.

Has anyone here got any experience of this?

I always do programs designed for men. Unless you're taking steroids or testosterone injections than you won't gain mass like a man does, but you'll get stronger.

Have a look at Stronglifts 5x5 which isn't specifically for men but you might like it.

As fitfatty says, you won't gain mass easily, even many men struggle to do that - so don't avoid 'programmes for men' on that basis Smile

Wander over to The Weights Room topic and you may find old threads useful and lots of posters who will answer your questions Smile
