Running (parkrun) etiquette

Hi, I'm a newish runner (nearly finished couch to 5k). I'm thinking of doing a park run on Saturday, it will be my first 5k. I know another woman who goes, and we've run together a few times (not at a parkrun), even though she's much better than me, and is a serious runner. On the normal runs she matches my pace. But at the parkrun I don't know what the etiquette is, I don't want her to feel she has to run with me as I'll be slower, but if I meet up with her to go will she feel she has to?

Having typed it out this seems like a really weird thing to be worrying about!

Just tell her you don't expect her to match your pace and you'll see her at the finish line :-)

I think what socks is the best answer Smile

I understand though, when it's not a close friend it's quite a weird dynamic to figure out!

I used to run with a friend who was a much better runner than me. She shot off ahead and finished her parkrun then she would run back and find me and run the last bit again with me encouraging me. Suited us both perfectly Smile

Do what Herman's friend does, but make sure you tell your friend to get her finish token (she may be going for a PB-"personal best") before she comes to meet you.
