Just that really. I have 2ds, one 13 the other 9, who are really not sporty. I am unfit, and thinking we could all do this with the lighter evenings coming.

Yes they can - and once you're underway, they can also do junior park run!

(There are also plenty of children your sons' ages at our local normal parkrun, which is 5k - they get t shirts when they complete ten. The junior events are 2k.)

Yes, and they can then do normal parkrun with you (9 year old within arms reach) which is fun. My 9 year old isn't very enthused about running, but I took him and DH through c25k and he runs at parkrun OK now. I like that he goes because he gets to see other not very fast people getting on and doing it.

I've got to break the news that I am going to make them run!

Could they do it younger, at 7 and 8? Thanks

I've done the week one podcast with my 5 year old. He can handle a couple of kilometres of alternating running and walking. I wouldn't do the longer blocks of running with him yet, but his stamina is improving as he grows.

My 6 Yr old ran the 5k race for life with me last year and loved it smile

I think it would be a great way to start them off. I've done c25k myself and my children have joined me at the full parkrun. They started when they were 7, now 8, and have done over fifty parkruns between them and a similar number of the junior events, which they enjoy as they're not hampered by me. DH only started parkrun as DS complained I was too slow. They love it.

My two did c25k with me nearly 3 years ago at 13 and 9, and the youngest (who's now 12) did day one with me today! It makes it really fun and is easy and cheap! Do it smile

Oh, and the dog - he was just taking the p* though by trotting in front of us...

I still haven't broken it to them about starting running, bad enough trying to get them to sort out Lego, and they love that Lego, not sorting The youngest has been quite poorly with a virus though.

The grandson of the man who runs the running club I go to has just run his 50th Parkrun. His PB is 24 minutes.
He is six.

13 and 9 would be fine for normal Parkun. Lots of people slow run / walk it so they could improve week by week.

My DS did c25k almost 2 years ago when he was 9, now he goes on 5-8k runs with me on weekends. Tried to do it with DD after my triumph with DS (she was 7) and her moaning did my head in so I stopped. She is now 9 and wants to do a 1k fun run on the day DS does a 5k and I do a 10k, and I've been making her do 1k intervals.

I can't say enough great things about c25k - give it a go with you DCs and good luck!
