Thanks for the new thread FiftyNine.
Good luck with your fancy dress cross country Purple. Here in France people don't do silly things like dress up or run for charity (more's the pity).
Thanks for the ideas on core strength training Suzanne I know it makes sense I just like being outdoors running more!
Forecast looks awful for this weekend's racing. But at least with wind and rain you just want to finish more quickly...that's my theory, anyway.

Thanks for the new thread FiftyNine

Good luck for all running races this weekend. Hopefully the weather and wind improves somewhat between now and then. It's vile here so I'm going to do a class instead of a run tomorrow.

Enjoy the fancy dress Purple.

I thought nothing would beat running exercise wise but I'm actually really loving strength training. Great challenge, especially for me who started with poor upper body strength but I've already noticed a difference there and my core. Being a lp I like the fact I can fit in some bodyweight stuff at home when I can't get out because of dc.

Just adding 13 from yesterday to make 193.80. Went out with a friend and did a mixture of hills and contours- feels so much easier now winter is finally here. Probably won't do much this week as going to Singapore for work for 3 days and then racing on Saturday (50k).

Nice easy run in the sunshine this morning, a tropical 4 degrees so t shirt weather! Followed part of the route of the town fun run that happens on Boxing Day so I could get some practice on the nasty hill.

Lovely run this morning, although we encountered a lot more cyclists than I'd like! Managed the same route from last week 4 minutes quicker Smile a balmy 11C here but still very windy!!! 208.4

Hi everyone. Hope you're all well and getting festive. My 6.2 was a Santa Dash on Clapham Common today. Various bits of costume were discarded. Dogs, buggies and scooters dodged and a PB gained Xmas Smile

Well done all runners! I've not made it out this weekend - very very busy yesterday and had food poisoning last night, so heading out for a run when I've needed to be in the proximity of a bed or a loo all day didn't seem the best idea!
Will do my normal 5 mile route tomorrow

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend running despite the weather.
How was your HM Fiftynine?
The weather here has been really calm, and for the race this morning it was 13°C, very little wind and a little rain which was nice and refreshing. Mostly in the forest and not too muddy. I did the 27kms in 2H25M and finished 2nd woman overall (the first woman was the tiny triathlete who must weigh all of 35kgs and beat me in the 30km trail race I did back in October).
Prize was a bunch of flowers, a pack of veg (leeks, carrots, turnips, potatoes) and another ugly trophy.

Have only managed 2 runs so far this month due to the crappy weather. I'm going to have to abandon my planned running days and just get out as and when the weather is ok. I don't like running wind and rain if I can help it, one or the other is bearable but not both!

6.5 from me today.

Did my turkey run this morning lots of fun but very muddy!
Slow time but a great goody bag after. Had a technical t shirt medal and a Christmas pudding Grin

Mince pies and tea after as well. Post race feet were rotten. Had a massive puddle at about 7km that you had to run through.
