I keep seeing these threads and I never post so this month I'd like to join in please. I haven't done any Jillian for a while so I think I am going to do the Shred again

Blonder are you starting tomorrow? I might join you with the shred if I can survive it ;)

Checking In!

NMTZ again last night. Oo my abs!

Just did day one of level 1 of the 30 day shred. I couldn't do loads of it. Please tell me that's normal!

I wish it were likely to be vest top weather! I opened the door to let the cat in just now and it was distinctly chilly.

Body Rev, phase 3, week 9, workout 9. Well, it's not quite as bad as I thought it would be when I previewed it last night, but it's still pretty bad. The absolute worst is a thing where you're in plank on your elbows with your hands in front of you and have to come up onto your hands and back down again. And the squats with V-raises have come back to haunt me - I knew it was too good to be true that there hadn't been any so far.

Welcome, Balonder!

CookieMonster, sorry, cross-posted with you! Yes, totally normal - but if you stick at it you should find you improve fast. L1 is hard: there are loads of people on these threads who've been doing Jillian for years but struggle with a full set of push-ups.

Another new face, reporting for shred duty! I am about to hit day 9 of level 1 of the 30DS - I lurked on your May thread and feel I shoild join in now. My goals are to shift the final few kilos of pregnancy weight - little boy is now almost ten months old and I had post-natal complications that meant I couldn't walk more than about ten steps for the first three months after he was born. I am now back fully mobile and ready to get back to my old figure too.

I am just waiting for him to do his morning nap, I already have the dvd set up and ready to hit play, and I hope to report that I have completed day 9 soon.

And I'm back with day 9 level 1 complete. My personal triumph today was managing to do both sets of pressups properly Anita-style for the first time - previously I would do a few on my knes and then need to shove my butt up in the air to do box pressups to get through. Amazing to see such progression in less than a fortnight. I am in awe of anyone who follows Nataliefor those.

30DS is working really well for me because I think I have it really part of the daily routine. My baby wakes for the day very early so I get dressed in gym gear, set up my mats and weights after he has his breakfast, put the dvd I ready to go. Then the second he goes down for his first nap, I automatically hit it without needing to think, no excuses for procastination. I love that it is only 20 minutes, and by the time you finish strength on circuit 2, you are halfway through.

PS sorry for thread hogging in my enthusiasm. Can I give a tip for those starting for the first time? On the various jumping moves, especially the skipping rope, make sure you bring your heels all the way down to the ground as you land each jump, otherwise you will get horrendously tight and painful calf muscles. I learned this the hard way!

I really struggled with 30DS as I have no upper body strength whatsoever, and have somewhat dodgy joints, so I have bitten the bullet, swallowed my pride, and decided to start off with the beginner shred every day in June before moving on the 30DS. I had a go without weights the other day, and with the cardio ramped up the more advanced level (proper jumping jacks) I think it's going to be at about the right level to start off with, and get me properly into habit of doing strength training, which is the sort of exercise I enjoy least.

No vest tops here either! Mon is my Pilates and walk miles round town day though so am just wearing out my feet going to yet another medical appointment. Thankfully for the feet no strappy sandals either.

Can I join? I've had my Shred DVD since January but never done. In fact only just out of its cellophane. I'm on a June mission, so will give it a go later.

Thanks Imogen. Hi cookie, sycamore and other shredders. I have just finished Level 1. Am trying to keep up with Natalie - I find it ok apart from the press-ups which are a killer.

Just completed Day 1 - forget how hard it is! Third try at completing the 30 days - got to Day 18 on last attempt. Must succeed as beach holiday next month (panic!).

I've just done my 1st ever Day 1. 30 days on the trot? My dog was very excited at me on "his" mat.

NMTZ done. God that "vicious plank circuit" just pisses me off. And the tricep kick-back circuit, well I'm snarling at the end of it.

Well done stars. 30 days seems like a big cosmic joke at this point doesn't it, but you CAN do it!

Checking in, thanks for the new thread Imogen.
No exercise today due to mega work shift to catch up after my week off, but NMTZ tomorrow.
TheBeagle - it does get easier and NMTZ is one of my faves!
Balonder - I have been doing JM workouts consistently since January and press ups are still my weakest move! I default to doing them on my knees more often than in full plank position Blush.

OublietteBravo · 01/06/2015 20:17

Haven't been here for ages Blush - time to get back into it.

Just done L1D1 of 30DS. I think I might be a but stiff tomorrow Grin

Thanks for the new thread Imogen.

Still plugging away at 30DS but only twice a week; may try NMTZ for my 40 min conditioning day though; and in preparation for my 10k in 7 weeks, am also running 3 days per week.

Have left L1 30DS and moved on to L2. Am finding it much harder, not least because it needs more room and my feet keep slipping on the carpet. Need to go down to 1kg weights on the last strength session.

I do like her style of workouts though - the 20 mins go by quickly and I like the chatter. Couldn't do 30 days in a row though. Very impressed by those of you who can, and do!

Glad to hear other people found it really hard too. I'm on 500 weights at the moment but better than nothing. Showed me how weak my arms are.

My legs are slowly starting to get sore so god knows how I will move tomorrow. I've got out my exercise clothes and mat though and am ready to do it again tomorrow morning.

Body Rev phase 3 week 9 workout 10 done. Owf. Everything in this one seems to involve jumping. Not quite as bad as workout 9 but pretty hard going. Rock star jumps with weights just seems cruel. On the other hand, Body Rev must have improved my fitness - I can do a set of jumping lunges with weights now, and I couldn't do more than a handful, even without weights, two months ago.

stars, I've never done thirty days straight through - I Shredded five days a week and had weekends off. Most of her other DVDs specifically recommend that you have a rest day. I find I need weekends to look forward to so that I can drag myself through the workout on the other days!

Cookie, I won't lie - you'll be really sore for the first two or three days, but after that it wears off and it won't be that bad again (unless you fall off the Jillian wagon, of course...).

Day 10 complete - "well on my way to being shredded!" ;)

I almost cried off as baby woke three times last night but I'm delighted I pushed myself to do it instead of joining him for a nap! Moving up to level 2 tomorrow. Thrilled I managed to do all my pressups Anita-style again - it's my personal little victory. Even on level 2, I think I might force myself to include a set of pressups at the end to maintain my momentum.

Loving this thread for accountability already.
