Polar Ft4/Ft7

I am about to take up walking/jogging hoping to build up fitness to running. I do exercise occasionally but will be building this into my day 4 days a week on my journey home from work.
The journey os about 3 miles which I think is roughly 5km?
Do I need the ft7 or would the ft4 be sufficient to help me track calories and fitness?

I've got a ft4 which I'm really happy with. Basic but does the job. I bought it to know how many calories I was burning doing insanity.

Do you mind me asking how many calories you burn doing insanity - I've got a Garmin vivofit and it's rubbish for that sort of thing (insanity) ... I usually do 30 minutes classes

I have the fit bit one for my daily activity but want something better for running and shredding. I was toying with the forerunner but that wouldn't do the shred

I had a forerunner but sold it on eBay when I bought the vivofit - wish I'd kept it now ...
