The December Shred Thread - all welcome

I can't believe it's the end of this year already - here's the new thread for people doing the Shred, or any of JM's other exercise programmes, and wanting encouragement, advice or a place to moan (or indeed all three).

NMTZ second half, third time done. Splitting the DVD in two actually works quite well: the first half needs the full array of weights, and the second half is nearly all mat work, so they feel quite different.

Place marking. Going to see if I can get L1D8 done during a nap today...

30DS L1D8 smashed at my preferred time of mid-morning while DS2 napping in his cot! Yes, more than 20 minutes in his cot! Shock

I shall bask fully in the superwoman/alpha-mother glow as I seriously can't foresee a repeat...Hmm

Yoga Meltdown L1 D1 done. Probably very good for me - I'm really inflexible - but made me feel inadequate! I also now have freezing feet from exercising barefoot in a cold room with a tiled floor, but if I wear socks I'll slip as soon as I step off the mat.

Well done, Elphaba! Let's hope this is the start of a new and better sleep pattern.

Hope you feel better soon, yadah. Amazingly DS doesn't seem to have brought anything horrible home from school yet, but it must be only a matter of time.

30DS L1D9 in the bag thanks to another miracle cot nap from DS2! Grin

I loooove yoga. I'd love to do Bikram/hot yoga but haven't got the regular childcare to get to a class.

And, right on cue, he's awake...

Elph, I well-remember the non-napping snall person phase. 'This too shall pass' - eventually!

DD off school for an inset day yesterday so (don't hate me!) I had another lie-in. I work part-time from home so it's only having to get up at 6:30 to get her out to the school bus in time which usually gets me up in time to exercise. Hate to think what will happen when she's off to university in a few years time. But I did KB&T L2 D1 today. Not too bad, with plenty of pauses to regain breath though.

NMTZ whole workout done, and without resorting to the 1kg weights for anything except the surrenders - I managed the whole bicep circuit with 3kg. But now I'm running late with the rest of my morning so I don't think I can do that again. Errol, I'm ferociously jealous of your lie-ins!

Elphaba, if you're a proper yoga aficionado I think you'd probably hate JM's version. I never was - in the days when I had time to go to classes I was a Pilates type - so I don't mind her bastardised version, but even I can tell it's not the real thing.

15 minutes of HIIT cardio got in before DS2 woke up today. I stretched in his room while he babbled away in his cot.

Should have burned off at least one bite of that duffin I had this morning Blush

RI30 W1 D4 done. Unfortunately my DVD seems to be knackered after only three uses and no longer works Confused.

However, rather than use this as an excuse not to do it, I just found it on youtube instead. Have requested a refund and replacement from Amazon.

Also awaiting some 3kg weights, eek.

Yoga Meltdown L1 D2 done. Owww. My shoulders have got locked in an unhelpful position over the years and a lot of this DVD relies on getting them into a sensible place, and it hurts! Probably very good for me, but still...

Also my bike is broken, probably through my neglect, and I need to take it to the shop before I go to work today, which is annoying and means I'll lose out on exercising.

Me! Me! I'm here!

Thursday seems to be designated headache day Hmm so I spent most of yesterday feeling sorry for myself, but did my babywearing exercise class today and got rather sweaty.

I will make a realistic goal of getting one 30DS in over the weekend. I think both Sat and Sun are unlikely, much as I'd like to do both.

Hi Elphaba, glad it's not just me talking to myself! I'm planning to do NMTZ tomorrow as DH has taken DS to visit MIL (that sentence probably wins some kind of booby prize for number of acronyms) so, unusually, I'm alone in the house tomorrow morning and thought I might as well do some exercise.

Sorry about the headache - is it sleep deprivation-related?

Almost certainly. Nobody is sleeping at our place at the moment. Nobody [yawning emoticon]

Well, I wouldn't have got round to NMTZ if I hadn't posted on here and said I would. It's done now, I think for the fifth time. Off now to do the ironing and other exciting chores before DH and DS get back.

I started in November, but failed to get my act together. So did one level one of 30DS a week. But this week have done three days in a row and am now on day six.

I have completed quite a few Jillians in the past, but let myself go for several months due to depression. I know every single word of the 30DS, so am playing music instead because I can't bear to hear her talk me through the routine. I think I must have done level one at least fifty times in the last couple of years.

30DS L1D10 done! Failed in my goal to get one done over the weekend, but in my defence I was in the pool for an hour with the boys on Saturday and had a long walk with DS2 in the sling on Sunday.

I guess that means I have to start on L2 tomorrow and stop eating so much crap to get through the sleep deprivation

Level one day seven done. First one where I didn't feel like I was doing star jumps in treacle.

I'm not looking forward to level two either, Elphaba! Good luck!

Yoga Meltdown L1 D4 done. Yesterday was an unplanned rest day - I just couldn't get out of bed when it came to it.

Hang in there PorkyMinch. Think how brilliant you'll feel when you've got to L2. Elphaba, don't beat yourself up about eating crap: sleep deprivation is just so hard and you have to get through it somehow. I'm sure there are women out there who can manage on 3 hours' sleep, eat a healthy diet and get in plenty of exercise, but I don't know any of them.

I'm sat here staring at L2 paused to begin on the TV, my exercise gear is all laid out ready to put on and DS2 has passed out IN MY LAP. Angry

And furthermore, the heating is off, I have no snacks and NO COFFEE. AngryAngry

NMTZ done all the way through, sixth time. Should manage ten complete workouts before Christmas. I was a bit feeble today: my shoulders are really hurting.

Elphaba, I feel your pain (particularly the lack of coffee)! How long did it go on for?

Two freezing, starving, cranky hours. Naturally he woke up full of the joys after such a nice nap. Then he went and repeated his performance an hour later.

However...30DS L2D1 done today! Not nearly as bad as starting L1 from scratch. And I'd forgotten how much I missed squat thrusts!

Hello all .. .well, last week went a bit to pot for various car-related reasons, I only did half of KB&T L2 on wed, nothing thur and then did it fri (and had done tue but not mon). So I decided to do it this week as well instead of moving onto L3. Except today I did my xmas shopping instead (so got a bit of upper-body workout lugging my haul back Grin). I never know what to get for DH (and vv) - we get things ourselves that we know we want, like clothes or i-things in his case. Anyway, while getting a book for DD I noticed one I was sure he'd like. Whew. DD likes wrapping the presents which aren't for her ... so when I handed it over to her this afternoon, a funny grin appears ... 'er mum, remember a few years back when you and dad each bought the other the same book...'. I guess this is what happens when you've been married a long time and do have interests in common!
