Exercise in your garden?

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone does exercise in their back gardens and if so, what do you do? I'm on my own with my DS most days & evenings so I can't do any exercise in a gym, on the streets, at a park etc. I'm lucky enough to have a fairly spacious garden so thought I could exercise in it while DS naps in day & at night too.

What would you recommend I do? I'm overweight & not exercised in years so need to start off gently!

TIA Thanks

Hi, I'm in a similar situation, LP, so can't get out to exercise much. I have a small garden and this summer I've been doing yoga, weights and skipping for cardio. I also have a stepper which I'll take out to the garden. I usually listen to music with one earphone in so I can hear ds.

Am in a similar position, so am hopping on for inspiration. Have started the 30ab challenge this morning, but need some cardio too.

Could you set up a mini circuits session? Skipping, running on the spot, crunches, planks, step-ups with a timer/app? Going to take some will-power to do it on your own though.

Walking, jogging, skipping (could do interval training where you mix short bursts of jogging, running, walking, sprinting (if you can), plus side steps, grapevine and high skips to keep it interesting).

Press ups, sit ups, planking.

Star jumps.

Use a chair or bench for tricep dips (kill the bingo wings!)

Get a kid or partner or friend to throw and bounce a ball with you - a tennis ball "drop" is good where you get someone to drop/throw a tennis ball all over the place then then you sprint to pick it up - basically like you do with a dog. It's knackering!

If your LO has a trampoline, that can be very good exercise!

You can do many exercises in your garden; try jumping rope it is a full body exercise to. It is cheaper than having exercise equipment at home. You can also do yoga and Zumba dance at home. Zumba is really effective for losing weight. Watch some Zumba and Yoga tutorials on Youtube and try it in your home.
