I ran my first ever 10k today in a charity run - it felt amazing!

Just wanted to encourage anyone who is thinking of starting C25K or is in the early stages of it - I did it starting in February and would not have believed that I'd run this distance and be barely out of breath at the end. I'm not fast, and never will be, but I've discovered today that I like doing the longer distances. It's a great, great feeling. :-)

It was a MoRun btw and I did it in 1:06:55.

Yey! I did the Abbey Dash 10k in Leeds today. First 10k since dd (who is now 2). I sprained my ankle really badly about 6 weeks ago and couldn't run until about 3 weeks ago. I got round in 1.04.30, on lots of ibuprofen and a massive neoprene ankle support!

Wow that's brilliant!

When and how did you start running? Did it take ages and a lot of pain to get to this point?

That's awesome! Congratulations!

I'm a mid distance runner, I think. I run 3 miles a few times a week, but I really love the challenge of the 10k. But then I get really, really bored after that. I like the idea of the half marathon and then I think, "Yeah, but no but yeah!!"

Unexpected - me too!

Belize - I followed the NHS plan which with a small gap for illness/other commitments took me 11 weeks from February rather than nine. I did the race for life a week or so later in May then carried on going out every week and trying to inCrease my distance. Did another R4L. I struggled a bit over the summer with the heat and holidays but got back into it in Sept and signed up for this to give me a focus. It hasn't been pain at all, just mental effort to make myself go out when I'm tired etc. having goals definitely helps. I'm doing a group 10k in March for a charity very close to my heart so that should be good.

Cool - I'm now just thinking - could I possibly do a HM???? It's the training time as much as anything which might defeat me, with two young dcs and work!

Of course you can do a half! Well done on today, the truck I think us to take the training plan as a guide and adjust it to your real life calendar, well done!
