Following on from ErrolTheDragon's October Shred thread:

Another month, another chance to start/restart/continue the 30 Day Shred, or similar - ripped in 30, NMTZ, whatever your preferred form of torture exercise with Jillian you're welcome here for support, advice and motivation!

30 day shred - Level 3 day 3 done and a lot easier today! used a yoga mat which I think has made a world of difference and my elbows are very grateful for.

Checking in. I've done about 6 days of the 30DS but keep slipping due to DD2 being an awful sleeper and leaving me just enough energy to drag myself to the coffee maker.

I'm determined to keep going, I really need to build up my core strength because I've just signed up for my first half marathon in March.

Thanks for starting the thread conquita. I'm on my second time around for the 30 day shred - just done L1D1. I'm trying to do 'Natalie' moves this time (except for press ups!). I usually shred on weekdays so hopefully I will be done by Christmas.

OK, I'm back - enjoyed having a week off, but back to it this morning - L2D8 of Ri30 done, and as it's such a beautiful morning, out a bit of a run ... the jogging pace I can sustain is too slow so I'm trying to go faster for as long as I can (which isn't very long!) and walk till recovered.

Hi everyone, Thanks for the new thread Conquita . Glad we're off to a good start. I did L3D6 this morning. I'm still finding it pretty tough tbh but am still doing it. I can now do the proper Natalie moves on that bastard dumbbell and leg raise thing in circuit 3 and managed a round of "proper" sit ups this morning.

I noticed at the weekend I'm starting to get some real definition round the shoulders which is good but I'd prefer more stomach flattening!

My new JM boxed set is winging its way to me as I type!

L2D7 today. Some stuff is getting easier, plank jacks and some of the abs. The lunges in circuit 2 I still find difficult, as my balance isn't brilliant, and the squats with raises at the end. What weights do people use? I've only got 5lbs which I find very tough with those arm raises.
Much better with trainers on so thankyou all for that tip.Hope you're all well and enjoying shredding :)

I only had 5lbs to start with - I got some 1.5kgs which are much better for moves like those raises, and some 3kgs which I use for some things such as bicep curls.( And nicked one of DHs 10lbs for the thing in L3 where you only use one weight.)

L1D2 completed. Enjoying it but my shoulders ache a bit. I'm impressed by the weights some of you are using - I can't imagine going beyond my 1kgs.

10lbs Errol ? Shock Shock

I have only just graduated to 2kg!! No wonder results haven't been quite as drastic as I might have hoped!

Only one 10lb!

But I reckon its good to have 2 or 3 pairs so you can use whatever weight you can while maintaining good form. Anyone just thinking of starting (surely there are some new lurkers?), I think argos does sets; I got my 1.5kgs from Sports Direct.

I've been using 1.5kg weights but I find them too light for everything except the raises and anterior raises which almost kill me every single time. I've started using a resistance band for the dumbbell rows but I need heavier weights for the others, especially the bicep curls.

Try Freecycle for weights, it's one of those things that people buy and never use.

In my mind 10lbs would be like lifting DS when he was born over my head with one hand - not possible for me.

Lifting a rigid weight is different to lifting a floppy precious object!

My original motivation to start doing this was realising that my 14yo DD was stronger in the upper body than me through diligently windsurfing with increasingly large rigs every chance she could. She's the one you wouldn't want to arm wrestle! Grin

Grin @ Bennet Girl

Errol - I can only just about beat 11yo DS at arm wrestling so wouldn't stand a chance with your DD.

L1D3 done. I found it difficult to motivate myself this morning but got into it by focussing on how much more toned i am after doing it first time around. Was really glad I did as I felt much better afterwards. How's everyone else getting on?

Morning Will, glad you're sticking around, the buzz is fantastic isn't it?

Am just firing myself up for today's session

I think I'll stick with L1 and then go out for my c25k run when I've recovered again

You're right about only a few days giving results - my arms are toned again and there is definition in my thighs for the first time ever!

ah, well there's another motivation for you to stick with it. I've noticed a few people get themselves into better shape when their older children start getting stronger or faster than them!

L2 D9 this morning. Just feel so much better once I've done it. Do you all manage annoying Natalie moves, or Anita, or a mixture? I can stick with her in some stuff but not all, pendulum lunges(?) especially I'm all over the place! My trouble area is my bum and thighs, not sure i can see a difference yet but have lost a few pounds and there's more definition in my tummy area. I will persevere!

I'm having a bad attack of procrastination this morning.
I'm doing lots of Natalie moves at the moment.... different Natalie and she's doing the beginner version on L2 of Ri30. Grin

I'll kick yours if you kick mine, Errol?

I'm sat in my GYM/running kit complaining to myself that it's cold. . .

L2D10 of Ri30 done (I mistyped yesterday). Just looked through L3 ...umph, looks tricky, lots of standing on one leg.

Feeling much warmer now, so if you're still sitting shivering, TLABG (which one is that? Lydia?) get off your butt so I can kick it! Grin

Now just procrastinating about doing any work. I always stay up too late when DH is away from home and then feel bleugh the next day.
