Exercise for a fractured spine?

I have posted similar in the weight loss bit, but am looking for specific advice in reference to what exercises etc i can do.

I fractured my L1 vertebra just over a week ago. Hardly any pain now, can walk ok but can't bend well, lift anything heavier than the kettle and can't twist. I am already piling on weight, am going to manage it with 5:2 but want to exercise (used to run 3x a week and do yoga 3x a week)

I feel horrid and fat and unfit already!

Any help gladly received Grin

I have has a back problem for a few months culminating in an operation 10 days ago. Prior to this I was a fitness junky- regular 13 mile runs/Insanity (if that means nothing to you, think bastard hard circuits- the worst you have ever done) and double sessions of Shred/Ripped etc. I have not put on weight, but I do think my hunger has diminished slightly anyway. In terms of what I have done, mainly brisk walking- 3-5 miles daily where possible , plus Callenetics ( I had to modify this as some caused me pain. This is like gentle Pilates and I would have scoffed at it previously, but it has helped me maintain muscle tone. You will obviously need to take advice from a physio about what works for you. Running obviously out and possibly cycling because of position? There are probably lots of yoga moves you should avoid too.

I have physio next Monday and I hope that they can point me in the direction of what I am allowed to do!

It's horrid isn't it?

I know I am lucky but it doesn't make it easier to take Hmm
