Did a 5k tonight - village has a monthly communal run, lovely evening for it! What's everyone's running plans for the weekend?

Belugagrad Sat 27-Apr-13 06:25:22

Well done on 5k everton.

I'm going to try and rest this weekend though I'm desperate to head out! Got my 1mile race a week today so need to pull back training. Desperate to get out though!

girlsyearapart Sat 27-Apr-13 06:42:57

Love seeing this thread!

I have my first half marathon next Sunday.

Slightly nervous that I won't finish it..

The most I have ever done is 15km and that was about 3 years ago.

In training I have managed 10k. I didn't stop because I couldn't run further but because I had to get back for the kids.

Dh is away this weekend & I really wanted to be able to run but its looking unlikely..

Inspired by the marathon finishers well done you!

Belugagrad Sat 27-Apr-13 07:36:59

10 mile not 1 milesmile

Belugagrad Sat 27-Apr-13 07:38:25

Good luck for next Sunday girls! Are you tapering this week? And if so how much?

girlsyearapart Sat 27-Apr-13 11:29:13

Last week I ran sun, mon, tues and Thursday & the Thursday was the hardest even though it was the shortest at only 6k..

Think it doesn't suit me to have many rest days?

tiredemma Sat 27-Apr-13 11:54:22

Im only going to run 3 x a week.

Mondays, weds and saturdays- with the saturday being my longest run

girlsyearapart Sun 28-Apr-13 16:35:37

My friend finished her latest half in 40 seconds shy of 2 hours! Jealous!

Clure Tue 30-Apr-13 22:40:21

Yay! I ran again last night for the 2nd time since Brighton marathon 2 weeks ago and this time my knee didn't hurt!!! I decided to run on treadmill to be kinder to my joints
AND have also just entered the London Marathon ballot. Anyone else entered? x

girlsyearapart Wed 01-May-13 12:33:30

Well done.
I am really nervous about this Sundays race!
I have entered the ballot for the London marathon too but apparently only 1/9 chance

Belugagrad Wed 01-May-13 13:07:44

I'm so nervous about Saturday! Looking for safety pins! Know I've put the work in just hope it pans out. Let
Me know how your race goes girls.

In the ballot for London. Fingers crossed! Long wait though.

evertonmint Thu 02-May-13 16:11:25

Good luck beluga and girls!

I did a hard 8k with my running group today - lots of fast repeats and chasing people down! It was glorious though - sunshine, bird song and frolicking lambs, plus the fields are now just fields rather than bogs of trainer doom smile

girlsyearapart Thu 02-May-13 18:53:58

Sounds lovely Everton.

I went out to run last night & ended up phoning the fire brigade! Fire on the nature reserve & no one around. Flames as high as the trees, anyway that put the end to my run as had to wait to direct the firemen. Some were rather lovely though..

Was going to go tonight but no one in with the kids so I can't.

That only leaves tomorrow as want to keep Saturday as a rest day.

But breaking news: I found my safety pins! grin

Clure Thu 02-May-13 19:29:19

Good luck to you girls for Saturday.
Everton, loving the sound of your run!
Going to try a 10k tomorrow and see how the old knee holds up!

Belugagrad Sun 05-May-13 06:11:09

Woop woop good luck for today girls! My 10 miler went really well, 88 minssmile

golemmings Sun 05-May-13 07:52:21

Hello! I fell off the thread somewhat. Not been out for a couple of weeks;work has been stupidly hard and I'm exhausted. I NEED to run but working to 3am to meet deadlines means I can't sensibly run after work or before since I REALLY need those 3hrs sleep.

We're down at mil's for the bh weekend so I'm hoping to get out and run but I don't really have enough energy to get out of my own way.
This week needs to be better. I have a 33mi tri next sat. Been on a bike once in 6y, so it could be a challenge...

What's everybody else up to over the bh w/e?

girlsyearapart Sun 05-May-13 12:13:53

Done ! 2.22.
In the queue for massage now grin

Belugagrad Sun 05-May-13 18:06:53

Well done girls!

Triathlons are so much fun golem! Overtake on the run?

Clure Sun 05-May-13 20:00:11

ooh well done, good times girls. Knee stopped my 10k run sad but did a 30k bike this morning, goooooorgeous morning, loads of cyclists out. Isn't it great when you overtake a couple of lycra lads out on the bike?!!

golemmings Mon 06-May-13 21:58:19

Well I got out. 6.7mi so just over 10k. I was under the misapprehension that somerset was flat... oh man! It wasn't steep but it was rolling, And went on and on... T'was stunning though.

Took me an hour to do 10k though which was disappointing given I want to beat 56mins next month but much quicker than this time last year. I think over the next month I can probably knock 5 mins off that.

Well done on the bike ride Clure!

evertonmint Wed 08-May-13 19:02:54

Well done on the races!

I'm off out with my running group now. Starting to rain and getting cold, but I have confit duck legs and roast beetroot to come back to so I have to run hard grin

PeggyO Fri 10-May-13 18:31:18

Hello, I would love to join in with you all! I've had to abandon my planned June half due to ongoing injury woes, most recently patellar tendinitis. But I am feeling happy today as the physio gave me the all-clear to try running again this week, and I have managed two days in a row pain free! Only 5 minute intervals followed by periods of walking, but it's a start...

At the moment my loose plan is to do a half marathon in September / October and the Great South at the end of October, and I have also entered the ballot for London next year (gulp!) I entered in one of those 'why not' moments, but now am really determined that next year will be my marathon year, so am thinking about back-up options. I like the look of Brighton, but don't want to enter and then find I have a place at London too! Does anyone have any idea how quickly Brighton / other marathons fill up?

Well done Belugagrad and girlsyearapart on your races!

Clure Fri 10-May-13 21:21:58

well done PeggyO. I too am having ongoing injuries which at the moment mean I am resting from running (cycling and doing other gym classes like spin, combat and circuits) I'm not sure how quickly Brighton fills up, I entered straight away last year and ran it for ClicSargent. I was like you in that the year before didn't get a place at London so was really keen to still run a marathon (my first) and so went straight for Brighton. Its a fantastic marathon to do!

montelusa Mon 20-May-13 16:28:45

Hello all - how's running been going this past week?

I did my 10k yesterday. Not trained as much as last year, so really gutted to miss my PB by only 3 seconds! Pleased I did better than I thought I would, but so unamused at being so close and spent all yesterday thinking what if I didn't slow down for water, what if I had started my sprint for the line 50 metres earlier, what if I had done an extra training run etc. Grrr!

I'm thinking of signing up for the Great South Run too PeggyO - it gives me time to get back from summer holidays and back into running properly, and seems like a good step up from 10k rather than doubling it to a half which slightly terrifies me!

evertonmint Mon 20-May-13 16:30:58

ooops - that was me, inadvertently outing myself with the new user name I used for a thorny problem last week! Don't tell anyone who I am smile
