The Couch to 5k 2011 - Part 3 : Keep Holding My Hand So We Don’t get Separated!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/07/2011 23:07

Yet more space for us to talk about our progress on the Couch to 5K programme, the stuff we wear and the music we listen to! New runners are warmly welcomed - come and give it a whirl, you know you want to! There has been a lot of success on this thread, both in the UK and internationally, moral support is abundant, and there is always a kick up the arse for anyone who needs one!

If we stick together we will enjoy success, I thought song lyrics were appropriate so in the words of Gwen Stefani.. Grin

Run, running all the time
Running to the future
With you right by my side
Me, I'm the one you chose
Out of all the people
You wanted me the most

Running, running, as fast as we can
As fast as we can
Do you think you'll make it?
Do you think we'll make it?
We're running, keep holding my hand
It's so we don't get separated

Be, be the one I need
Be the one I trust most
Don't stop inspiring me...

Good luck everyone x

I am going to go back and have a look at it. There were quite a few of my old faves but plenty of stuff I hadn't thought of Grin.

Here's one of Bear's

Take a Chance On Me - ABBA
Love Shack - B52's
Jive Talkin' - Bee Gees
Love Machine - Arctic Monkeys version from Radio 1's Live Lounge where they arse around and giggle all the way through it - makes me chuckle
Something Kinda Oooh - Girls Aloud
Town Called Malice - The Jam
Sex On Fire - Kings of Leon
Everything Changes But You - Take That (I heart Take That)
Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons - I love Mumford - like to listen to them at the beginning and end on my warm up/cool down dawdles
Dog Days Are Over - Florence and the Machine
A-Punk - Vampire Weekend
Bang Bang You're Dead - Dirty Pretty Things
Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis
I Don't Feel Like Dancin' - Scissor Sisters - SNAP - that'll make me think of you now Peas
Song 2 - Blur - wooo hooooooooo!
Teenage Kicks - The Raconteurs
Tiger Feet - Mud +

Far too modern for my taste! (Except Scissor Sisters, B52's and BeeGees)

and the rest of Bear's...

Mr Blue Sky
Born This Way - Lady Gaga
aforementioned Love Machine
Do You Love Me - The Contours - gets me shaking my ass every time
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - JET
Volare & Bamboleo - Gypsy Kings - more jigglers
Single Ladies & Crazy In Love - Beyonce - think Beyonce jogging along and you're not far off from my running style
Fame - Irene Cara
Flashdance What A Feeling - Fame (I am really showing my advanced years now)
Another One Bites The Dust/FBG/Don't Stop Me Now
Mr Blue Sky - again - motivates me like no other
I'm Gonna Be/I'm On My Way/King of the Road - The FABULASTIC Proclaimers

Loving lots of these - "my song", Flashdanace (reminds me of DS2 being born - we were living overseas and the only English TV channels were CNN and baaad movies. Flashdance was on what felt like continuous loop for the first week of his life).

All this C+P'ing is of course excellent distraction from:

(a) no running for over a week
(b) TMA writing - still have a few '000 words to go Grin

Found you! Thanks for the thread, Rather. Looking forward to running, listening, shopping and generally hanging out with you all.

No running for me today. I am off to the O2 tonight (hurray!) to see Neil Diamond (shhhhhhhhhh!) - could I suggest "America" be added to our playlist? It's not actually on my wetpod but it should be. Running tomorrow. Am going to try to get further in my 5k before I walk. Yesterday was about half and half, so tomorrow I'll try to run for 3k before I walk.

We need some more recruits really so we can reminisce about Robert, Laura and the early days. If you are reading and debating joining, please do, we are all new runners (in the last year or so) I think and positively evangelical about the C25k programme. New runners hugely welcome and will be warmly encouraged.

Keep on running everyone Smile

Sweaty, are you with the OU? What is your TMA about? I have been an OU lecturer, although not at the moment. They are great courses.

Scissor Sisters, good idea!

Sweaty - Mouldy Old Dough reminds me of my dear Granny, she had a record player and a few singles which we used to play non stop at her house, this was one of them. The Jam were the first band I ever went to see, the year before they split up [nostalgic emoticon].

I have been thinking about upbeat music from the 80s and brought to mind The Skids, Tenpole Tudor (who I saw mentioned in another thread about music for running to a while ago), The Clash, need to go and look for 80s compilations on Amazon I think.

Sybil - I'm intrigued by the idea of the wetpod and thinking DH might like one for his birthday in a few weeks, do you think you could post a link to it?

I'm actually running 5 days a week and therefore zipping through the programme.

Finding cool new running routes has been the secret to my success this time around. I am starting to really feel like a proper runner now :)

How's everyone else doing?
