Thanks for the lovely new thread Debi, glad the shins seem ok.

Well done Science, that's a great achievement and loved the race report!

Emma, it sounds like you are right on track for your half, good stuff.

June, well done on your 11k, it's good to feel you have something left in the tank, it will give you confidence when you do 13k.

Wheely I loved the cupcake pics of your DD on fb, so cute!

Paws, hope you enjoy the Foos tonight! I have got a last minute ticket for Pulp at the Wireless festival so very excited about that. Grace Jones is on before them and I think she'll be awesome, if slightly nuts!!!

And welcome back Driving, glad you had a lovely holiday. When is your 20 week scan, (assuming they do the same in Ireland)?

Report
drivingmisscrazy · 03/07/2011 14:52

thanks peach; July 20 is 20 week scan - actually more or less on time this time round (was at about 23 weeks last time I think). Baby is moving a fair bit now :)

DD in re-entry meltdown mode today - she was as good as gold on holiday and on flights...guess she feels she can let rip now. Have to go to town for new phone as mine died on hols.

NOt running today, will get back on schedule tomorrow - feeling that there is not much to be gained for me from struggling with it. I am only running for pleasure and to keep slim fit...but I need to do some strength work, I think.

Lovely shiny thread - thanks debi; great time science - what was it in the end?

Oh cool! Mine is on 18th, will be 22 weeks then. Getting very excited to find out the sex. Am sure have told this story before, but it was pre your time on here Driving. A dufus guy I used to work with asked me when I was pregnant with DD if I had found out the sexuality of the baby Grin. Really made me giggle.

happy running all, hopefully 4/5 miles tomorrow plus the shred thing which I had no chance of doing this weekend, wine hr now

Can I join in. Used to run (did GNR - my greatest achievement!!) but am in final few weeks of my degree during which my running tailed off and stopped. However I have started again - using couch to 5K and am quite chuffed with my running again (almost back to 5k). Am also off to see Take That tomorrow if my ancient legs can stand it Smile

hello stoatie! Well done on starting running again, sounds like your legs haven't forgotten what they're meant to do.

Had a lovely Sunday here in Fife - lots of sun but cool sea breeze so not too hot, my two daughters splashing happily together in paddling pool all afternoon, read my book under a parasol, home-made pizza for tea. 10/10!

Can I add myself to the list too? I keep forgetting.

Well done science - that's a great time on a trail run, especially given the fact you had you were, um, inconvenienced on your way round! You must be pretty pleased about that?

Welcome, stoatie, lovely to have you join.

Hope you had a great holiday driving, sounds like a lot of fun. Hope DD re-entry wasn't too heated and she's chilled out a little.

Oh to turn back time to have a chance to say witty remarks eh peach - that being said, sounds like your witty answer, even if you'd had a chance to make it, would have been wasted on him!

Had first proper training run again this morning after HM a week last Sunday, and found it pretty hard going. 12k with 4x2k intervals and 1k recoveries in between. Legs felt heavy - not sure whether it's after-effects of tough HM, having had an easy week last week or groin still a little painful. Need to pick it back up though as have another HM in 8 weeks and have a 2 week holiday in between.

Does anyone else find it really hard to re-motivate themselves after completing a race? This morning definitely felt joyless, like I was just knuckling down to put in some graft rather than something fun...

Hi all Smile

science that's an amazing HM time. Well done you!

driving welcome back mate. We missed you!

cest yes I was pretty fed up after my half and felt very heavy legged the week afterwards. Perhaps its a bit like the slump you get after planning your wedding? All that training, preperation and hype, then bang, it's all over. Best get signed up for another race quick!

I did a 3 mile interval run yesterday, making sure my pace never dropped under 8 m/m. It was hot, and I was sweating like a nutter at the end of it. Enjoyed it though.

Drill session for me tonight.

Healthy eating plan started here as in 3.5 weks I need to be donning a bikini on holiday......

Report
drivingmisscrazy · 04/07/2011 14:37

thanks Dr No - that sounds like a good interval session. You are really making breakthroughs at the moment, it seems.

Well, my week without running isn't doing much for my motivation either - the longest I've not run at all in 2011! (previous was about 3 days, I think). But back on the wagon tomorrow - 5 miler on July 16, half Sept 3!

Wheelybug · 04/07/2011 14:53

Well done Sciencebint - A great time, especially on trail/hills/hot etc. You must be well chuffed.

Peach - Pulp were amazing weren't they ? Sigh...

I haven't run all weekend due to being busy but also resting my ankle. Although not sure I rested it given the cupcake walk and then jumping up and down in the crowds yesterday. Will see how we go tomorrow in the gym although have dd1's class assembly so will only have time to do a short one. RFL this weekend so don't want to overdo it before then and let my Mum down !

drivingmisscrazy · 04/07/2011 15:13

meant to say too Dr No that I am watching the extra and nibbles - a few holiday pics show slightly more wobble than I would like. Need to tone up a bit too Blush. Wrecked today due to DD having high temp in the night - but seems more or less fine again now.

Report
Wheelybug · 04/07/2011 15:51

I too am healthy eating on countdown to holiday but having a bit of a wobble today due to late night last night, not much to eat yesterday so feeling particulalry hungry today and the dds between them being up from 2-5. Still trying to be good.

Glad you had a good hol driving.

cest - although I haven't done anything as much as a half yet, I definitely feel despondent with running after building up to a race. I just keep plodding away and evnetually it all seems to come back. Helps if there's another goal in place.

Report
MoshiMoshi · 04/07/2011 16:09

Glad you had a good holiday driving. I always think any extra weight put on during a holiday is easily lost - how much permanent damage can a fortnight realistically do? Hope your DD is much better and you catch up on lost sleep.

DrNo - does sound like you running is coming on nicely. I am sure you would have balked at paces like that not long ago.

Was not looking forward to a LSR today given the heat but managed 18M at average pace of 8:34m/m. Some done on the G Trainer to save my legs which is definitely helping with keeping the injuries away.

Finally, welcome Stoatie!

Report
DrNortherner · 04/07/2011 17:00

Yes I would have balked at that pace a while back! I am actually quite a fast sprinter over a very short distance. I just need to train my body to maintain it. I seem to lack consistency. Some days I run and can not muster anything faster than 9.5 mm.

Ooh new thread! thanks debi

I am really tired again today - all self-inflicted. Did a wonderful 12 miles yesterday taking in a large hill with views South over the Tay and North towards the Angus Hills. The weather was perfect but I don't think I ate enough before or after (Nike+ watch says 1600 calories Shock). Also, I have discovered that isotonic sport drinks give me sore teeth the next day so I can't eat much today either.

Going to skip running club tonight and scoff instead!

Hello Stoatie!

Welcome back driving.

9k for me on Saturday and then hilly 12k on Sunday. Not much time between now and Sunday to do a lot more as I am handing over to my replacement whilst having a handover for my new job, whilst still doing two other jobs all in the last week of school and just before going on leave...
