Well with July here, a couple of months of perfect exercise weather ahead and summer hols just around the corner, my summer of fitness is about to begin with a 40 min run.

Will be doing a gym workout Monday, spinning Tuesday and Thursday, a run on Friday and Sun and Step on Sat. Anybody fancy a bit of a fit club for motivation?

I'll join you! I have found, to my utter astonishment, that I am beginning to actually enjoy exercise for the first time in my whole life. I am about to start on the couch25k tomorrow, and am trying a lot of other new classes including circuits and weight-training. My plan is to exercise 6 days a week.

You must be really fit already, to be able to run 40 minutes!

Not especially. I think when you have been fit you retain a pretty good level for a long time as long as you don't totally let it slide. I did something like couch25k about 4 years ago and it was a great base to build on. Before DD I was running 3x a week, including the odd 10 mile run, and spinning. I'd like to be that fit again.

Good to have company!

So are you aiming to lose weight, or just to get fitter? My main aim is to lose weight - a lot of it. But I have to say I am already noticing and enjoying the benefits of having a higher level of fitness.

Can I ask what you do at the gym during your workouts?

To lose weight if I'm honest. I do love exercise when I'm into it though.

At the gym it's mainly just cardiologist at the moment:

5 mins treadmill
15mins mins x-trainer (120 min rpm)
10 mins bike (80 rpm)
core work
15mins treadmill (6, 9 & 12k intervals)

You did ask Grin

For some reason the instructor has decided resistance work is wasted on me!

Cardio, not cardiologist!

I'll join in. I'm midway through shredding though only managing about four days a week and I usually run 3x a week. Would like to lose weight but dont seem to be losing any. I lost a stone last year when I started running. I feel I need to lose just half a stone more but just cant seem to do it.
nbyet I started with couch to 5k at first I really struggled to run 1 min, but it really does work.
p.s if anyone has any tips on getting rid of tummy hangover from section please share, or am I just dreaming that I can ever get rid of it

I have the shred DVD too. I actually really like it, but don't do it very regularly now as I prefer to attend classes.

Orangehead it is my dream to be able to run 5K! I didn't make it out for my first run this morning, as I have Sunday night-itis and barely slept. But I intend to do it this evening.

Don't know the secret to losing belly fat I'm afraid, if I did I would be all over it! Are you a member of a gym?

I've done Shred and hated it, I'm afraid. I found it joyless and repetitive. I do like exercise so I don't mind making more time for something I enjoy. And I prefer not to feel alone doing it - I want others to be feeling my pain Grin

I've been to the gym this morning!

Have done shreddng this morning then 3 mile run this evening. But really dont like running in the heat, give me rain anyday (just for running the sun can come back out as soon as I stop).
I'm not a member of gym but occassionally go to local council one. Prekids I used to be member of david llyods down the road to me. Wish I could join again and the kids would love the outdoor pool in this weather but cant afford. Will have to keep dreaming.

Well done Orangehead, and today looks like a good day for another run! Give me dark, cold winter running any day over hot, daylight runs.

We're lucky with the gym in that it's out of town so fairly cheap, and has a creche. There's also a toddler swim class that I'm going to take DD to, so that saves the money I've been using to pay for starfish lessons.

Extra motivation for me today - my fab new dress has arrived. I bought it in the sale for a friend's wedding and it fits but would look better if I was more toned. So, hitting the road again later!

Gah, illness is such a bummer when you're on a roll with the fitness thing. Hope you feel better soon, but go easy and give yourself a couple of days to get over it.

1hr 15min spin class in the bag Smile

I haven't done so well this week....been under the weather too Sad. Still, did some Wii Zumba last night and will probably do the same again tonight. I am away next week but when I am back, it's full-steam ahead!

It's alright actually! Tires you out a bit and reasonably easy to follow until you get to the expert level!

Did a good gym workout yesterday ... then had fish and chips for tea (but shared a portion!)

Spin, step and maybe Zumba tomorrow.

Thank you.

Well it's lucky I did the exercise last week, because without it I'd have gained weight but instead lost one measly pound, but it's better than nowt. Lots of family parties etc going on at the moment, and no willpower to resist when DH feels like pigging out - luckily he's aiming for a health kick from today.

Went for a 5k run then had my gym plan revised to include some resistance this morning. Added 15mins on the x-trainer.
How are Shred, Zumba and C25k going ladies?

Spin Tues and tonight. Caught sight if myself in the mirror of the gym. Wasn(t pretty. Felt like jumping off the bike and running away, but that would have been defeating the inject. Boo!

Hello, can I join in please.?

I really need to do more exercise in an attempt to help me shift weight. I need to get back into running. Two years ago I was running three times a week and even ran a 10k.

Then I bought a dog and I walk her for an hour a day so don't have the time to run. Still have the dog so it's a bit of a problem! I work so don't have the time to walk for an hour and then gomfor a run. Will have to work something out.

Anyway I've been doing thirty day shred for a bit. Also bought zumba for the wii and that came today so have done that for the first time. I'm hoping to alternate shred and zumba and maybe go out for a run once a week, as well as dog walking!

I need to lose two stone!
