Westministenders: Crisis, which crisis ?

Main crises facing the government:

. Negotiating a Brexit deal with the EU
. Coronoavirus
. Floods
. Allegations of some ministers - and Cummings - bullying civil servants
. More trouble threatened from Turkey / Syria

Unfortunately with all these parallel crises, we have a workshy lying arse as PM
and the worst collection yet of incompetents in Cabinet
who seem to have decided on a strategy of bullying their civil servants to avoid hearing any facts that don't fit with current Tory party ideology

Imagine using your child - before it's even been born - to bounce a toxic story off the Sunday front pages. Imagine being that Dad.

I can't decide whether I feel sorry for Carrie or whether I think, "Hell mend her, she's chosen her bed" even if BJ hasn't Confused

She may ask him "Is this your 6th child, or your 7th, or ...."

I'm trying to imagine a female PM - or any female MP - getting elected after having kids with several different blokes
and abandoning at least one of them

I don't think a politician's private life is relevant to their job,
but it highlights the different standards women still have to live up to

Courageous man that senior civil servant. Well done to him. He knows that any settlement would include a gag clause. We shall see what comes out in the wash, but I am presuming it is not something that one of his standing would do lightly.

(I posted this on the last thread but it's reached its limit now)

AND he knows where the bodies are buried too. As a former senior CS I know exactly what he is talking about. This kind of battle was always there, but it seems to be ramped up now with the REAL PM in charge (DC), but enough about that.

I shall watch intently.

Never mind having children with various partners, unacknowledged/abandoned children, refusal to state how many children you have, open infidelity, raging, violent arguments causing your neighbours to ring the police, etc.

Imagine if Angela Merkel or Hillary Clinton ever got engaged to a man 24 yrs younger than them. That alone would be deemed outrageous.

The standards aren't double; they are so hugely disparate that it's mindblowing.

Layla Moran breaks the mold for female MPs;

"Moran and her then boyfriend Richard Davis were arrested and briefly detained by police following an argument between them, which ended with her slapping him in their hotel room, at a 2013 Liberal Democrat Federal Conference. Moran and her partner were released from custody after charges were dropped. The couple subsequently ended the relationship."

"Moran announced on 2 January 2020 that she was in a same-sex relationship, and identifies as pansexual."

I'm just imagining how the Mumsnet relationship thread would go... Just discovered I'm pregnant and the father won't be honest about how many children he's had from prior relationships but I think it's at least 6. Now he's making a big song and dance about the pregnancy announcement to distract from some serious problems at work. AIBU to LTB?

Layla Moran is PM, is she?

Layla Moran has been divorced twice and has now got pregnant via someone else out of wedlock?

More difficult with a woman, but Layla Moran doesn't know how many children she has, or doesn't acknowledge ones she has?

Repeat for a) any Labour politician b) any female MP.

Clavinova Your point being?
Well, she was obviously involved in a violent argument during which police were called - she was briefly arrested (Johnson was not arrested) - she may yet be the next Liberal Democrat leader.
