Leo Varadkar is meeting Johnson tomorrow and has today said "It's important we remember that this is not about politicians, it's about protecting people's jobs, business and peace and security - and if an extension is required to do that, well I think any politician should be prepared to do that

I've been trotting to vote since I came of age, I've drummed in the privalige of voting to dc. Take them with us, show them, explain it all. I can't carry on when its a sham. I couldn't support dictatorial government!

Both sides seem a million miles apart in agreeing a deal, the principles haven’t changed so I can’t see there will any progress. Johnson says he won’t ask for an extension but the Benn Act compels him to do so if there isn’t a deal. I’m 100% wanting to remain in the EU but the position has become ridiculous and the UK are the laughing stock of Europe. I’m in Belgium this weekend and the comments about the UK are not complementary.

I agree with you Septembersunrays but there’s just too many remainers in power & they’re doing all they can to make sure we don’t leave.

Well remainers have up in arms over the past many months saying that government weren't making any plans for no deal, now they are.

Boris will present a deal to the EU, the EU will reject it, Boris will resign as PM (but stay on as party leader). JC will try and form a government on his own, this won't happen, so a unity government will be formed and once they have spent some days/weeks arguing about who would lead said government they will then ask the EU for an extension and will call an election (because Guy will stipulate that as condition of said extension) All to be achieved between 19th -31st Oct!!. Gonna be interesting.

Boris could then run an election on a leave means leave ticket and we are back where we were, facing a no deal.

The above seems to be the jist of what I have read in last 24 hours across various media outlets, of course it could be something completely different (I still think there may be a loophole in the No Deal bill).

Tories can't win election without brexit party. And brexit said they will only do a pact on no deal which I think is unfair.

This is possibly the worse chess move Boris faces. There is definitely some catch in the Benn bill. But I am doubting mps resolve to see this through. Not one of them has any guts to see anything through.

Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament's chief Brexit co-ordinator, said it would be 'unacceptable' for Brussels to push back the UK's departure date in the current circumstances

He said: 'Foreign Minister Le Drian is right: yet another extension for Brexit is unacceptable, unless the deadlock in London is broken'

'Let it be a 2nd ref., new elections, a revocation of art. 50 or the approval of the deal, but not today’s helpless status quo'

If JC doesn't accept Boris' call for an election tomorrow is he going to be the stumbling block to an extension?

The French Foreign minister has stated that France won't give an extension under the current situation. DR says the Gov. is looking in to the legality of the Benn bill and I've heard that the Gov. are considering refusing to elect a representative to the EU council thus making the EU unconstitutional after the 1st Nov. That should make them think about agreeing to what BJ is proposing!!

Need to remember that the impasse in Parliament is as a result of the 2017 GE, a GE held after the brexit vote, if the country wasn't split preety much 50/50, a party would have got a majority.

I do not think its fair to equate an advisory referendum with parliamentary democracy.

I do hope that the next GE will produce a remain Govt but if it does not, then remainers have to accept that and vice versa.
