Apologies if this has already been covered I've looked but don't think there's a specific list. DD1 flying the nest in September to start uni (only an hour away but who knows if we'll have fuel for the "Mum could you bring me...."). Anyway I started early with the bedding, towels, kitchen equipment and I'm turning my attention to consumables. So far have:

Soap
Deodorant
Shampoo & conditioner
Toothbrush & shampoo
Sanpro
Face cleanser
Multivitamins
Plasters
Antiseptic cream
Paracetamol
Ibuprofen
Throat lozenges
Antihistamines
Tissues
Toilet roll
(Enough of all this until at least Xmas)

Various herbs & spices (I've been showing her how to tweak basic recipes with them for variety)
Ketchup
Mayo
Worcester sauce
Tomato puree
Pesto
Soy sauce
Stock cubes
Tea bags

Plan to get
Tinned tomatoes
Baked beans
Kidney beans
Chickpeas
Tinned tuna
Tinned sweetcorn
Pasta
Rice
Noodles
Idaho mash
Tinned fruit
Oatcakes/ryvita type something to replace bread

She won't have a lot of room but I think space in her bedroom for a decent sized plastic lidded crate so I plan to fill it and ask her to still do shopping until end Oct and then use it to supplement what she can get then.

Also still to get
Torch
Batteries (not allowed candles)
Stationery (she's on that though)
USB sticks so she can keep saving work

So you wonderful preppers - what am I missing?

That is all good stuff, but would also think about other things plans.

If she needs to get home and there is no transportation, map a route for her to walk home.

In the event something happens and you loose contact, decide a meeting location. IE if the worst of the worst happens after 4 days of no contact meet at grans house.

I would also brush up on some first aid skills.

I know all this sounds extreme but it’s not, my dad used to do it with me. He would drop me off at parties when I was younger. On the way we would decide if something happened (like police came to brake up the party) I would go to the nearby phone box ring the home phone 3 times then walk to the field gate we passed where he would pick me up.

@Screamanger's idea is excellent. Check the key skills.

My son was in Halls in first year and had such a tiny amount of storage space it was ridiculous, partly because everyone took too much crockery, lots and pans.

They need fewer pans and plates and more food in those cupboards.I

DS is going into final year in a shared house and his 'wish list' involves tins of spaghetti, potatoes and tomato soup, and the long-life part-baked rolls and baguettes, and long-life(ish) packets of wraps.

Is salt and pepper included in your list of herbs and spices?

Lemon juice
Dry shampoo
A sewing kit
A bag for life or 6.

Also not strictly prepping but make sure she takes cold weather/wet weather stuff with her. Far too easy when leaving on a mild September day to forget coat, gloves, hat, umbrella and wellies - particularly important if there are local transport issues and she has to walk to places.

And an airer / drier / 'clothes horse' thingy! I think they're £8 in Asda.

I am studying duty of care, breach of contract and negligence clauses for universities with regard to their liabilities in crash out brexit.

Interesting litigation potential here.

That's interesting, @woman19. I'm worried that my son's university won't be able to supply the necessary lab materials / labs. They're quite medically specialised.

Yup autumncrow Check your university web site.

Several avenues one might go down if they can't assure access to basics.

Great plan, but just bear in mind you've got to get it all in the car.

Will she need liquid/powder for clothes washing?

Mine's going 350+, not much chance of seeing her anyway, but even less if there's a fuel shortage.
