I know you all giggle at my dehydrator antics (mainly because it's funny Grin), but check out Amazon for a cheap one - around £35 if you can spare it. Fruit and veg are in season now and cheaper than winter. Particularly veg to add to soups stews and sauces in the winter. Also, A bag of frozen veg is chopped to the right size for dehydrating. And, when done, fits into a sterilised reused jam jar. Saves space in your freezer.

I don't giggle at you, I find it interesting and wonder about doing it myself with mangoes but don't know anything about it. Dried mango costs a fortune and my kids inhale the stuff so wondered if it would be cheaper to do it myself. I also react badly to the sulphur they preserve things with Blush
I know you do mushrooms and see the point of that for soups but what else do you dehydrate, how long do they keep for, what do you use them in?

I am also interested in dehydrating. I got my dehydrator today & have 3 boxes each of strawberries, raspberries & any plum tomatoes coming tomorrow on a 50% off flash sale from Ocado, so I expect to be busy prepping them for drying. Any tips?

Thank you Bellini for recommending dehydrator. I checked amazon then went to the site of one of the suppliers, where the options are not only cheaper than amazon but some were in the ex demo section & very much cheaper. Let me know if anyone wants the company name.

Flouncy I have also seen prices go up over the last month especially.
Breadsticks were 75p are now 84p; essential loo roll was £3.50 or 2 for £6; is now £3.70; loaf of bread that was £1.15 is now £1.35. Ocado price match to Tesco so organic bananas were £1.39 now £1.45 & so on. Every time Tesco price goes up, so does Ocado. All together, I have found good savings by moving from organic to regular & getting some fresh fruit & veg from Lidl. But I have to drive to Lidl so can't go every day, as fuel isn't cheap either. Otherwise I get whatever fruit & veg is on flash offer on Ocado.

Autumn it's Vitality4life. Not as cheap as super cheap ones on Amazon, but I have a veggie family so think it is essential for us. They told me it would be delivered by Thursday but arrived at sparrow's fart this .morning- I only ordered yesterday lunchtime. I ordered a BPA-free one with stainless steel shelves as the lack of them was a common complaint on amazon. Time will tell!

OH's DD says that only Aveeno works on her cracked hands. (She's a HCSW and wears a lot of those disposable gloves which react with her skin.)

I think it's sold in Home Bargains as well.

I pay £5 for it at times as it's the best one I've found over the years. In winter I get dreadfully dry and chapped hands. They itch and bleed. This stops that and doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy or tacky (I have sensory issues). It lasts ages so 2 tubes should see me through the winter. Wearing gloves more often would help but my hands get claustrophobic Blush

Bit difficult, there was only me and my Dad, and he never used face cream in his life

Oh dear Grin this is the sort of thing I would have done for sure.

B&m do decently priced batteries.

They're also decent for laundry products and tinned foods.

What about rubber gloves? Slather on cream and wear gloves for a bit. The heat gets the best out of the cream. Disposable gloves after cream works the best for sensory issues I've found. I just do housework while I'm wearing them to pass the time. I couldn't do material gloves.

Mountain Warehouse have a sale on at the moment. Picked up a couple of tiny torches bogof. Stocking fillers possibly? I use them to get the car in the garage at night.

I am away so not able to get at any bargains. Trying not to panic while we are away.

All I can think about in every fecking post is chopped tomatoes, thus on the lookout for those at decent prices.

I have a dehydrator as well. Pineapple. I am perpetually on the lookout for reduced / special offer on fresh pineapple. Honestly, it's like candy, but better. And practically guilt-free.

B&M have multipacks of tinned tuna at £4.50 at present. Cheapest I've seen it anywhere. They are also reasonably good price for (non-refillable) plastic grinders of sea salt, pink salt, pepper, & various other condiments. Personally I tend to buy larger bags of pink salt at TK Maxx as we much prefer it to the regular kind, but you can't always get it, & you need a refillable grinder.

IMO dried apricots cheaper to buy from Grape Tree if you have a branch locally. Unless, of course, you have a tree to grow them on! Grape Tree very good value for dried fruit, nuts & seeds compared to most other high street shops & supermarkets IME.

Mountain Warehouse usually have some kind of wind-up torch. The ones with a rotary thing are much better (easier) than the squeeze type to recharge.
