Craziest reasons for wanting brexit

I've just been reading some of the comments attached to a bbc news article on brexit and found this gem:

I remember those days well. In 1991 I had a long distance "boyfriend" and if I was really lucky I'd get his letter in the morning post before I got the bus to school at 7.20am. If it wasn't in the first post then it would come in the second post around 10.30am.
My post has just arrived this morning but my mum lives a mile up the road and hers tends to arrive in the afternoon.

Some people will blame the EU for anything!

What's the craziest reason for brexit you've heard or read?

My ILs told me that on the day after the referendum they heard someone in their local Tesco (in a small north midlands town) celebrating on the grounds that "now all the potholes will get filled in".

I think what this mainly tells you is that people voted leave for a very very wide range of reasons, some of which had no obvious connection with the EU.

Totally oblivious to the fact that the industry they work in would mean their job would probably not exist after brexit.

I am amazed people are still fussing about light bulbs, I thought the progress made with LED bulbs meant this was no longer a problem.

My dm had (has maybe) an illegal lightbulb dealer. He stockpiled older lightbulbs in 60W +. I must ask if he’s pro Brexit, he’ll loose his business but maybe that’s worth it for 100W bulbs.

My parents voted leave because fishermen were being forced to change the labels on their products to comply with whatever the EU regulations are and it just isn't fair that they should have to alter their packaging.

My DM’s reasons (apart from 40 years of Torygraph propaganda resulting in in “I don’t like the EU”) are so she can buy bananas from the Canary Islands and potatoes with soil on them in the shops

I have a relative who cited smart motorways as one of the reasons for "getting away from the French as fast as possible".
Fuck knows why, I was unable to follow her argument.

I have another relative who has always been "concerned" over the level of immigration from outside the EU (particularly Pakistan, India etc).
Used to mutter that "Enoch Powell was right" at news stories with the most tenuous link to immigration.
She voted leave for a variety of reasons.

A few months ago she did a U-turn and now claims at one of the positives of Brexit is that "we can let more people from outside the EU in, especially from the Commonwealth, it's not fair they were excluded in favour of EU Freedom of movement."
Claims she has always thought this way, and that it "proves" that remainers are the real racists. complete rewriting of history, and very frustrating to hear, but I console myself with the fact that she has mellowed greatly over the years and at least has the capacity to change her mind.

Getting our navy blue passports back. Metaphorically wet myself on hearing they'd be produced in France. I imagine the rage this will induce among leavers is inversely correlated with the likelihood of them ever setting foot outside their living room the UK and thus their need for a passport in the first place.

My workmates are mostly leavers. According to discussions at the time of the referendum they were going to vote leave as they want a points style immigration system.
However some were voting leave as they don't 'feel European' and think that Europe is a far away place that shouldn't have any influence over England/Britain.
