Westminstenders: Brace Yourself It's Gonna BeBoris

It seems inconceivable that Hunt can beat Johnson. And whilst we are all considering the horrors that Prime Johnson can bring...

Let's not forget Brexit, whats Brexit?

Already there is talk that Boris has gone soft on 31st Oct as an absolute. But he's also promised the earth to the ERG.

So what suits Boris best?

What does his ego demand?

What does Boris want his legacy to be?

Our fate rests on Boris's whims and personal desires.

And if you are Scottish, Muslim or otherwise not rich, white and male you might have reason to be concerned.

I love the expression on the 'right hand' one of the two as if to say 'who did that?'.

Trying hard not to join my dh in "Fuck 'em, I hope they starve".
Following his lead I now refuse to call Johnson solely by his first name as if he were some sort of fun meeja personality.

I am bluddyfurious that cons voters get an effing month of the two of them pitching for their vote as if any were confused as to which of the two would lead the country best - the answer is none of them , please just let us leave and get a life again.

OK the lyrics don't quite fit.

BJ is certainly a 'blow' to the UK economy.

What does his ego demand?

Staying PM for as long as possible. If by some miracle he manages to lose this time, that will be the end of him, although I dare say he would keep trying.

Who threatens the Tory party most ? The Brexit Party or the Labour party, or even in the South East, the Lib Dems?

I also think it is interesting Farage doesn't trust Boris. That must be putting the cat amongst the pigeons somewhere. I mean, no one trusts Boris but he should be tipping the scales for the Brexiteers vote.

I'm still going with my scenario that if Boris wins he will do nothing until we No Deal other than plan Brexit Day and have a GE shortly afterwards.

This interim Tory Fan Club attention is just a distraction from the lack of any form of plan until they can No Deal. Neither of them is actually stupid enough to believe they can re-negotiate; that's just for the soft Leaver plebs to keep them interested/hope. They both know it is No Deal or Revoke (sadly not going to happen) so it's a matter of ticking down the clock. The fact they won't go into details about "what happens after Brexit" is something Leavers are finally picking up on. They can't discuss that because of course it won't be what Leavers want to hear. They are getting ready to don their surprised faces for public interviews after 31st Oct along with a lot of "nasty EU" headlines about how badly we have been treated. So more of the same.

I really want to know whether Leavers thought there would be more detail by know, you know, what colour hair those unicorns would have, would they have all of their legs...?

I still hear people getting his last name wrong on R4 (Johnston). Since he’s become known primarily as Boris

Sorry Bertrand - didn't refresh. He's much more of a BJ or a Johnson.

Leavers these days seem strangely quiet apart from Clavinova's cut and past jobs about 3 jobs in a shop replacing 500 when a firm pulls out of the UK. Not seen surferjet for absolutely yonks on these threads.

They're wasting a month of our precious 6 month extension while Johnson and Hunt find ways to impress a tiny minority of unrepresentative voters. Then it's the summer break.

We've already had - what - 3 weeks? of nothing happening while the candidates show off.

I'd bet this campaign time is not worth it as it'll represent a high percentage of the time that the ensuing premiership will actually last. (6 months?)

I always used to think the US wasted time and money with their campaigns before elections (Trump has just announced his candidacy for the 2020 elections in 18 months time, so the hooha is already starting for the ensuing 4 year government.) Whereas we've always had approx 6 week election campaigns.

However this is making me think again about how the UK is not valuing time.

Especially as there is apparently 'Enormous hostility' across EU to any Brexit extension.'

They have been as curious as Leavers I know IRL about what happens next (only over the last couple of weeks to be honest) which does make me wonder why they picked the Mystery Box. Surely they are happy being given whatever they get? They don't even need to know the why's or wherefores! They TRUST the Tories so implicitly (more than all of the other countries in the EU of course!) that they believe they have all of our best interests at heart. It's a Martha Stewart hard sell really.

Just...those pesky questions about business. And tariffs. And why don't the experts finally admit they were wrong all along? How can Carny still be so sure the world actually knows what WTO means and BJ doesn't? It must be all very hard to ignore, even for the most ardent Leaver.

I also think it is interesting Farage doesn't trust Boris.

I think of all the candidates, Farage least wanted Boris. So there may yet be a god.

Old Nige has been very quiet of late. No fool he. His job is now to quietly let Brexit disintegrate without his sticky little fingers being anywhere near it. If he really does harbour some deep-seated desire to destroy the Tories, that would be by far and away the easiest and most certain way.

Incidentally, has anyone witnessed what happens when a die-hard Tory Leaver meets someone who happily admits they only voted Leaver to destroy the Tories ? Given the birthday paradox etc, it must have happened. The might be a long running West End play in it. "An evening with Gary Lineker Nigel Farage" ?

Y'know I've been very strict over the last three years only calling him Johnson rather than simply Boris...

... I only used it for the alliteration with Brace!!!
