D1ND - 'Day 1 No Deal' in a no deal scenario. Will be used a lot more in coming weeks if this carries on.

Murrison II or Murrison / Brady - a parliamentary amendment which seeks to give an exit clause to the Withdrawal Agreement. This is not approved by the EU as part of the Withdrawal Agreement and as such is designed to be a political statement by the UK. This also means it could be rejected by the EU preventing the WA from being ratified.

Cooper-Boles - a parliamentary amendment which seeks to prevent No Deal by binding Parliament into asking for an A50 extension. Unfortunately it might not succeed in its intent in certain circumstances as no deal may still be default by accident or sabotage.

D1ND - 'Day 1 No Deal' would be important - and grim - if it's ND

Amendments are vital tomorrow, then fish & chip wrappings next week ... unless / until one finally passes !

ECJ - European Court of Justice - the EU's highest court regarding application of EU law. One of Theresa May's red lines.

ECHR - European Court of Human Rights - which the UK co-founded. Nothing to do with the EU and which we're not leaving yet (although May hates it as it often ruled against her when she was Home Secretary, so who knows? Hmm)

The Malthouse Compromise - A rehash of an ERG plan which has duped Soft Tories. It contains lots of things the EU have long ago said are not acceptable to them. It lacks the detail they need on the backstop able to progress. It has a fantasy a lite free trade agreement can be knocked up in 3 years.

BigChocFrenzy · 29/01/2019 11:29

malthouse compromise is no compromise at all, just ERG policy repackaged with enough weasel words to fool a lot of people.

They haven't actually given up anything significant:
the weasel words deliberately enable them legally to get out of everything they don't like, from 1 Jan 2022

It's just an exercise in fooling enough soft Brexit / Remainy Tories to have a veneer of party unity
and above all to blame the EU for the No Deal that the ERG have always intended

Destiel and MrsL I have a dyspraxic tendency DD too. Basically they'll be ok in life -it's just getting through the school bit. GCHQ actively recruit people with dyslexic skills as they are streets ahead in espionage strategy. Honestly!

Mine is good at talking- but paperwork not so much. On hearing of BoJo's casual paperwork disposal DH suggested that DD should go into politics...

CCA - Civil Contingencies Act
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Contingencies_Act_2004
An Parliamentary Act introduced under the last Labour government for dealing with national emergencies. Its very vague and very draconian as a result.

The potential for its abuse is high and concerning.

AA - Alternative Arrangements for the NI backstop.
An abbreviation by people who think you have to be drunk to think that this is a viable idea after being told repeatedly that this is a non-starter by the EU.

The Rwanda Model - a euphemism for the ERGs shit idea for a border solution using technology that has been used for other purposes in Rwanda. The Rwanda Model neglects to think about it being used in Ireland and NI where there's a history of organised crime in the border region and how the scheme will only work if people are happy to use it and haven't been intimidated by criminal gangs to smuggle for huge profits.

If only the ERG had lived in the real world for twenty minutes, and realised that there are other ways dodge tax than the ones they see as a birth right.

AAWG - The Alternative Arrangements Working Group.

ERG deputy chairman Steve Baker, former Northern Ireland secretary Owen Paterson and Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh will join forces with former education secretary Nicky Morgan and ex-cabinet office minister Damian Green to examine the feasibility of the so-called Malthouse Compromise.
