To ask if those panicking about Brexit realise they've been had?

Honestly, it's pathetic.

This is Project Fear mark 2, spin designed to stop Brexit happening. Politicians and wonks hope that if they spread enough fear around, which is what all these ridiculous 'prepping' threads are, they will stop us leaving the EU.

Everybody needs to calm the fuck down, stop digging their underground food stores/adding some more tins to the Ocado order, and realise this is spin, pure and simple. The world will continue to turn, and food will continue to be on supermarket shelves, regardless of what happens with Brexit.

I am very sad at the lack of sense and backbone so many people are showing here, regardless of views on Brexit.

I'm off to have a gin and put my feet up. I might even eat something from my freezer tonight rather than save it for armageddon #dicingwithdeath

Politicians can’t stop Brexit, if they do there will be civil unrest or a civil war from the Remainers.

If it goes ahead then there will be shortages and civil unrest. We are generally screwed either way, personally I am prepared so bring it on

I completely agree. There’s a political agenda behind the scaremongering and it’s shocking how many are sucked into it. Of course, politicians are advising us of what could happen, but that’s mostly politically motivated too, depending on whether they want a deal/no deal and are pro remain/Brexit. Even bloody Theresa May is pro remain, so I don’t believe a word she says either

I agree OP. I have nothing against stockpiling a bit extra in case of illness or bad weather, but these threads encourage panic buying which leads to shortages in the shops.

YABU. If it's designed to stop Brexit, then why are the government (including leavers like Raab) talking about it? You're quite right that there's no need for people to feel desperately anxious, but until there is a deal in place and lots of issues around customs, airspace etc are resolved, then planning for an accidental crash out is sensible.

That's incorrect. People buying a few extra tins or loo rolls at the moment will not lead to shortages, as there is a fully adequate supply line in place.

After Brexit, however, who knows what will happen to that supply line? It's very sensible to stock up now while we know we still can.

Looking in from the outside (I live abroad), I just don’t get all this moaning! Whether you voted Remain or Leave, you are where you are. What’s the point in being so miserable, pessimistic, rude, defeatist about it?? Wouldn’t you all be better off making the best of the situation you find yourselves in and supporting each other and your government to get the best deal possible rather than wallowing in this, frankly quite ugly, self-pitying misery??!
