Brexit

Not the Brexit Arms

Since BrexitArmsLandlady says she isn't starting anymore threads here's a place to discuss Brexit developments for those that still want to.

It never ceases to amaze me what a shambles this is.

The cabinet still can't even agree what we want, let alone what we're going to get.

Thanks, Bear. I hope we can still get to hear the thoughts of both sides on this thread. I say thoughts, because there are still no hard and fast plans to discuss.

It's quite astounding! The cabinet are arguing over two possibilities, neither of which is acceptable to the EU!

You couldn't make this shit up...

Title should have been NOT! The Brexit Arms, for us oldies Grin

I'm still baffled that the PM triggered Article 50 without having the first idea how to address the Irish border problem. As far as I can see the Cabinet have spent the last 18 months just hoping something would turn up Confused

Absolutely Irene. This whole mess has been caused by PMs trying to pacify the swivel-eyed tendency in their party, first in calling for the stupid referendum, and then onward with triggering A50 just to try and keep the loons quiet.

In a hundred years time, this will be taught as an abject object lesson in how not to govern.

Bit quiet in here. How are we supposed to keep tabs on the wonderful prospects of Brexit if no-one updates us on the latest triumph?

I've just been reading about TM's latest gems in her piece for the Sun on Sunday.

I'm appalled she thinks she can still reel out the same old lines and we'll all be sucked in.

It's pathetic.

The fact her cabinet is arguing over 2 options, both of which the EU has already rejected, is pitiful.

The fact the strategy still seems to be to say the same things just louder and louder is a disgrace.

At what point is there actually going to be a workable plan?

I've been hooked on a new podcast and they have pro-Brexit economist on this week who made an interesting case for Brexit (I voted Remain).

Interesting bit on the "£350 million to the NHS claim" here:

Did anyone hear the Quizdillion guy (his actual name was something like that) on Radio4 just now? He was arguing that UK should pull out of Gallilleo or at least not worry if we're not part of it. HIS main argument was that the EU are bastards.

What caught my attention was he said that USA saw Gallielo as a threat, this undermines USA-UK relationship. He wanted UK to rely on the US GPS system instead (in short term until we raise billions to make our own Gallileo). GPS system is run exclusively by US Air Force. Last I checked, UK doesn't influence decisions made by USAF. What happened to "sovereignty"? Hmm :(.

What happened to "sovereignty"?

Becoming the 51st State will solve that. I am quite sure that is what a significant number of Europhobes really want.

Did anyone hear the Quizdillion guy

I don't need to. The rest of your post told what a cretinous moron he is.

US GPS has become irrelevant as the Russians, Chinese and Indians are all rocking their own GPs systems (and to verify that, I discovered so do Japan)

www.liveviewgps.com/blog/gps-satellite-systems-world/

that's before you add the EUs system.

But why DGR, I hear you say, why are there so many non-US systems ????

While it is actually rocket science, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out no one trusts America.

Yep - the UK would be stuffed if either the US or the Russians blocked access to their satellite navigation systems.

Yep - the UK would be stuffed if either the US or the Russians blocked access to their satellite navigation systems.

Which is why the Russians built GLONASS in the first place.

Centimetre accuracy GPS is needed for all the driverless car bollocks currently doing the rounds. Plus anything you wish to automate (such as warehousing and deliveries).

1st gen US GPS was +/- 10m accuracy (for the military) and +/-100m for civilian use (until people like me worked out how to bypass the random inaccuracies in the 90s - at which point Clinton turned them off).

To achieve 0.01m accuracy is a whole new generation of electronics - and physics research. At that level, General relativity rears it head big time (although anecdotally, the US military "has issues" with general relativity. Or so Prof. Brian Cox once said on an episode of QI).

It’s so strange how Leavers are “bored” when their lifelong dream is underway (and, possibly, not yet even guaranteed)

hey, you sound so confident; what's your plan for NI if you're so certain we're leaving the EU in any meaningful way?

It's Leavers like you who are the smug ones for thinking everything will be resolved, with no effort on your behalf, for no other reason than you want it to be.
