It was suggested on the previous thread that SurferJet was the OP of these threads.

I'm not SurferJet.

The BrexitArmsLandlady is just a thread host username.

I carried on the Brexit Arms Threads as I though they were a nice place for Brexiters & Remainers alike to post, without getting into the detail like Red's long running thread does.

Unfortunately there are a group of posters who use it as a place to berate & abuse Brexiters.

It would be great if you could all stop doing that in this thread, as it created a toxic atmosphere in the last one and that's not what these threads are supposed to be about.

It doesn't matter whether I voted to Leave or to Remain. I wanted the thread host to be a neutral entity.

Solid arguments are 'abuse' now? Look at Faith frothing at the mouth and dishing out profanity at me like it's the pub after a football game gone wrong (note: in the previous thread).

Anyway what did you expect? A pat on the back? Reassurances it will be fine after all? A shoulder to cry on?

I don’t really care who you are, leaver, remainer, or just random lurker - my original idea for a neutral place for everyone to chat just doesn’t work.
It was extremely naive of me to think it was possible to all get along happily despite our obvious differences. There’s still too much anger from MN remainers to have anything resembling a normal thread.

I’m not sure why you’d think I’d start these threads under a different name when I’d started all the original ones under my own name? Why would I do that?

There’s still too much anger from MN remainers to have anything resembling a normal thread.

I suspect there's actually more anger now because of the continued lack of a plan even after all this time and the insistence by Leavers that it will all be fine despite being completely unable to support that comment.

If Leavers were a little less blasé about everything and actually acknowledged and discussed the current problems it might be a different story.

The 'discourteous' bit was specifically referring to the writing in of a punishment clause though - which is in contradiction to the 'mutual benefit' & 'not trying to punish you for making a democratic decision' rhetoric.

That's all happening on the Westminster threads though - and specific threads can be started about specific things.

Wrt MN posters being blasé & not having answers - well it's because there's no direct input to negotiations from us - we're just anonymous people posting on a corner of the internet - we can't 'know what the plan is' & we certainly don't 'know' the outcome because it hadn't happened yet.

It doesn't matter how many times you ask for 'answers' - if it's not already been announced then we simply don't know, any more than you do - so it's pointless to get cross with posters on here for not knowing details.

Why do you think it's you unacceptable to include penalty clauses? It's part of any decent contract.

The very reason it's needed is because DD turned around after the first stage and said our position was only a statement of intent, it wasn't legally binding.

The EU are just getting their ducks in a row, something we are completely incapable of.

When are Leavers going to understand there is a difference between 'punishing' and 'things not being as good as they were before because we're leaving'?

I see no difference between the EU vote and a general election, every one in the UK, with the right to vote, was asked to vote. People did, one way or another. I live in East Yorkshire, I voted in the minority way, most of our friends and relatives freely admit to voting for the majority vote. Not one has expressed regrets to me, many think I voted leave, so are very open with their views.
I still enjoy their company and love( family).
Listening to them and slowly re-engaging here and reading majority views, like Faith, surferjet, corcory and Time4 views, I have become much more relaxed/happy that there is future for us all.
Please respect others views, without them we live in bubbles and things like brexit become a shock.

I stand by that, I don't approve of Jacob Rees Mogg's moral principles or a lot of his policies, but the more I see of the man, the more I approve of his honesty and I defend his right to think/speak them.
I am now 19 months on, more than to ready to engage with the majority and try to work out what happens now. I can't stay bitter for ever, it killed my DAD, it will kill me, so I now what to work towards a better post brexit Britain, for the sake of my 18 and 15 year old boys.
I have only just started posting on any mumsnet posts, I am Dad and poorly educated, so it's scary and I type slowly.
I use brexit arms to listen to the majority, what's left of them. If they disappear I lose that chance.

And I do see a difference, at least 3 huge differences:-

• a vote in a GE can be overturned in a few years max- Leaving is permanent
  
• a vote for a party in a GE is always going to be a 'best fit' scenario and polices which are ntroduced during their time in power are not part of your decision at the time of the GE
  
• voting to leave the EU meant just that. Any consequences be they negative or positive are a direct result of those voters choices. They knew, or at least should have known, that.
