I'm not hostile to people who voted Remain, or remain supporters because of their views - I'm only hostile towards the people who are rude & obnoxious to others.

The way people voted doesn't colour my opinion of them in any way - their actions & attitudes do though.

How do you reconcile that with your instance we could walk away with no deal when you know we can’t do that because we can’t afford not to be able to trade in financial services?

What are the purported ideals please? Tribalism? World-leading quality of life for the ordinary British people while pseudo-free trading with India and China? Free money laundering and tax evasion without those pesky EU regulators keeping things in check? Reliance on dodgy and isolationist Trump for security and defence?

My ideals?
Self determination.
Freedom before security.
Independence before paternalism.

I voted to remain out of fear of financial repercussions and deeply regret doing so. It was at odds with everything that I believe, and thought that I stood for.

Given the chance, I would not again so freely abandon my moral integrity for short term financial and physical security.

I understand my ideals are not, perhaps, the norm. I also understand that I'll never convince you to my way of thinking, because we have fundamentally different outlooks.
Where you see tribalism, I see brotherhood.
Where you feel protected by regulation, I feel enslaved.

What I cannot, however, understand, is why you consider it necessary to sit hammering insults into your keyboard when people with different beliefs to you wish to voice them.

What 'brotherhood' do you feel part of? Are you aligning yourself there with the Farages, JRMs, BoJos etc? I have to say, one of the things that deterred me from voting leave was the thought of the company I would be keeping (EDL, NF, BNP folk etc...) And yes, I know not everyone that voted leave is of their mindset, but the thought of allying myself with them in any form gives me the absolute creeps.

...and going onto any social media pages owned by Brexit supporters convinces me even more. Have a look at some of their Facebook pages. The leave 'brotherhood' don't look all that pretty...

Twofingers - out of approximately 17 million people they make up a very small minority of leave voters. I certainly don’t frequent their Facebook pages etc, why would I and i’m not sure why you would either. I have said this before but why should I let a small minority of small minded individuals (or as you say ‘brotherhood’) have any influence on my vote whatsoever. My vote was about a lot more than anything I imagine they witter on about. I have aligned myself merely by ticking the same box but that is where it ends and it doesn’t cause me sleepiness nights.

Double - China will happily give us a trade deal - on their terms.

They are a mighty world power with a population of nearly 1.4 billion, we are a small, and rapidly becoming insignificant, island off the coast of Europe with a population of less than 5% of that. By what magical thinking do you think we are going to be making demands on this deal?

Similarly with the US. The EU is a big enough market to make bargains with the US. With most countries the US just faxes through their demands and expects them signed and returned.

Anyone suggesting otherwise is living in an increasingly overpopulated Cloud Cuckoo Land.

I think I would call them a sizeable minority, rather than a small minority. I don't think Farage wheeled out his poster because he thought it would have no impact on or appeal to a certain sector of the population.
RTFT. It wasn't me who initially brought up 'brotherhood'.
Why do I look at Leave FB pages? Why not? I'm in the Brexit Arms, too FGS! Like Bear, I am still trying to get my head around the reasoning behind the vote. I only know two leavers in real life (probably because of the type of work I do). One voted for more money for the NHS and one because she 'thought it was time for a change'. The latter bitterly regrets her vote. The former, I don't see very much. I don't expect them to justify their vote to me, but in conversation I see the same sort of prevarication that I see on these threads. After 18 months or so, I'm still waiting to see a convincing argument for Leave. I've been looking high and low to be honest: newspapers, online news sources, social media, and have still not seen a single good reason that stands up to scrutiny. I haven't even heard Her Majesty's Government come up with a good argument for it. They just stand there repeating slogans. What I do see is an awful lot of anger from Leavers, which is another thing I can't get my head around. The angry people are on Facebook, Question Time audiences, here - everywhere I look. Why aren't they happy? Why aren't they out there spreading the joy? Why - so long after the vote - are they still unable to present a coherent argument about the NI issue amongst other things? Where, in short, is the vision?
