Still a week until Stoke and Copeland. (Labour Hold/Con Gain unless something strange happens) QT is from Stoke next week.

A50 hits the Lords next week. Melania is being lined up to do something for the women. (God help us all).

Will UKIP survive? Will Nuttall survive? Will Labour survive? Will Trump survive? Will CNN survive? Will the Lords survive? Will Theresa May survive a class room of children?

All these questions and more

Trump's press conference last night was scary beyond funny - including his insinuations against the BBC correspondent Shock

Doesn't bode well for his state of mind approach towards any trade agreements. Hmm

The madness has gone full circle and Tony Blair has joined the Great Brexit Circus.

Because things weren't bad enough until now.

Place marking too. Though why I keep checking in when I am busy being a citizen of the world I don't know, it feels like picking a particularly putrid scab. Interestingly the general vibe I am picking up in Asia is that they are now disinterested in Brexit and Trump which was not the case in the Autumn, when there was collective shock at the stupidity of it, they have moved on . There have been some wry comments about Leavers who have passed through declaring they have "regained their independence", as in they will take that seriously when the planes and container ships stop leaving piled high with IPads and cheap textiles.... They have faith in their economic juganaut and the sense this is their century and Britain on its way back to being a small island on the edge of Europe

I remember George W Bish refusing to answer questions from a BBC reporter on the 2004 campaign trail.
Such fragile egos these buffoons have!

Signing in, thanks Red. I'm genuinely not sure what to make of Tony Blair's promised intervention: loads of people despise him but he is a great organiser, he's articulate and still has the ear of an awful lot of powerful players. Let's see what he does.

That's what Obama's trip to see Branson was all about.
Branson co ordinates a liberal consensus, including those who fought and won against apartheid, amongst other alt right nonsense:

The lies and fuckwittage in this government and the Leave campaign make Blair's lies look small time.

His naivety about Dubya is a mere nothing compared to May's hopeless misreading of Trump and the possible consequences far worse.

It all seems quaint and parochial by comparison.

However Blair will do the Remain campaign about as much good as Osborne.

Drifting slightly OT (but bear with me).

These characters drifted across my field of view earlier

www.crowdfunder.co.uk/ourenergy

So citizen power, crowdfunding, social media are all coalescing into discernible pressures on established - and sometimes surprising - targets.

Given the entire premise (very noble, lofty, and IMO doomed to failure) of the enterprise is that the existing market is broken and that they believe there is a market for what they are offering, the $64,000 is can this translate into another broken market. That of UK politics.

The "brokeness" of UK politics seems to be a function of the geographical nature of representation. I wonder if there's something that could attack that to weaken the current hegemony which has delivered 3 parties whose only differential is rosette colour. It's certainly not policy.

I dislike Blair intensely, but he did maintain tight discipline and he did make his party electable again. Although we tend to say he was Tory lite, in practise, I now think he was a long way from that.
