Infinite on the last thread you posted the following addressed to me

There was no plan laid out before the British public just a continual erosion of our sovereignty, economic independence and National Identity. I was not happy with that and am absolutely staggered that you cannot and continue to refuse to see what a problem that was not just for me but for 17 million people. Are you not bothered by that? Do you not care

In order to answer whether I'm bothered or whether I care, I need to understand how you perceive our sovereignty, national identity and economic independence is being eroded within the EU and how it will change outside the EU.

In the interests of the discussion I won't pursue the fact you played the bully card yet again rather than answering in the last thread.

Could you give us some examples of this erosion please?

More Good news, www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01/14/eus-chief-brexit-negotiator-michel-barnier-wants-special-relationship/

The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator has said he wants to secure easy access to the City of London for countries in the bloc, in the first sign of a softer stance.

Michel Barnier reportedly told MEPs that he wanted a “special” relationship between the 27 remaining EU countries and Britain’s financial centre after Brexit.

"The comments chime with warnings by Mark Carney, the Bank of England governor, who said this week that the EU’s financial stability is more at risk from Brexit than the UK"

Reposting InformalRoman's post from another thread, just to balance the Telegraph post:

Michel Barnier has corrected the Guardian over its article "EU negotiator wants 'special' deal over access to City post-Brexit" - he tweeted:

"When asked on equivalence I said: EU would need special vigilance on financial stability risk, not special deal to access the City @guardian"

This guy looks very interesting, lets hope he gets the job!!

How ironic - his name is Teddy Roosvelt too - clearly meant to be.

"A strident Brexiteer tipped as the leading candidate to become Donald Trump's new ambassador to the EU has claimed America can become Britain’s ‘rich uncle’ during Brexit negotiations.

Professor Ted Malloch, who was interviewed by the President-elect's transition team at Trump Tower earlier this month, said if he gets the job he will advise the billionaire businessman to offer the UK a 'game-changing' trade deal with America.

Mr Malloch, who said he had been told he was the leading candidate for the role, believes a US-UK trade deal would bolster Britain’s strength during Brussels talks.

infinite I'm not in the least surprised by your reply, or should that be your complete inability to reply to the question I asked, and the irony of you having previously accused me of failing to 'own my shit' is hysterical given your clearly don't 'own your own shit'

Your post about sovereignty, economic independence and national identity was just patriotic rhetoric that you can't even begin to defend.

I have never seen you even attempt to justify those comments; any attempt by other posters, like surfers yesterday has always resulted in more hyperbole.

Surely if you feel strongly enough to make those points and say 'you are staggered I can't see the problem' you could actually give a few examples.

You look rather foolish saying things that you can't support which includes saying I don't own my own shit.

You may not like or agree with my posts but I don't think you'll find any I haven't or couldn't back up my opinion, unlike you.

Also continually referring to me as a bully is bang out of order. Calling me that just because you can't come up with a defence for your own comments is extremely bad form.

This is an interesting paper on the UK and the EU with respect to sovereignty.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 15/01/2017 09:48

Malloch - He ridiculed the notion of the European Union (EU) and the idea the US could be asked to join the ailing bloc.

He said: “Would they want the United States to join anything like the EU — a federal superstate that curtails sovereignty?"

“Of course the answer is no! We wouldn’t want that in any way, shape or form"

"“And the British already decided not to become part of the flawed euro currency and the European Central Bank.”

"The elite that dominates EU decision-making is managerial, bureaucratic and socialist"
"With a view to higher taxation and redistribution of wealth — all qualities the EU elite tout proudly, despite growing populist sentiment among an increasingly economically pressed middle class in virtually every EU-participating country"

InformalRoman · 15/01/2017 10:03

He's perfect - Trump isn't exactly supportive of the EU. Neither is Putin. Now there's a coincidence...

Well, in a sense the US is pretty close to the EU - a federal superstate bringing together many different individual states, which have the ability to have quite different laws in some cases. Which is why we have the massive differences between, say, California and Texas.

Report
InformalRoman · 15/01/2017 12:31

Funnily enough, both California and Texas have been mooted as breakaway states - Calexit and Texit.

Crawls in on stomach to avoid Remainer darts - I'll have a red wine please. Pleased to see the Brexit Arms still standing, despite the constant assaults.

I see after all the doom laden prophecy from Carney last year that he now says Brexit is no longer biggest risk to financial stability. Where's his apology?

Looking forward to hearing the PM's speech on Tuesday wherein it's thought she will say that if necessary we are prepared to leave the customs union and secure free trade deals elsewhere, regain full control of borders and no longer be bound by European Court of Justice rulings after Brexit. Works for me.

No time for a second glass of wine alas - wish you all the best.
