It looks like there has been another hit in France. For all we know there are
others being planned at this very moment. Isis say it would welcome any
chaos caused by problems within the EU so they have timed this well.
If we value our freedom and democracy we must stand together against
mass murder.

Its awful news for France once again. RIP to those that lost their lives yesterday. Really sad.

Terrible massacre.

I think we do stand together with all opponents of terrorism.

After all the sniping and downright unpleasantness recently, , the disputes
over who can go where in the EU, trade deals etc etc this sort of news
should ground people. There are people on our territory wandering around
with weapons , could be sitting anywhere loaded with suicide explosives
ready to kill anyone.

If anything were to ever put our recent squabbling and divisions into a new perspective its this. I am utterly shocked by what has happened. I cannot even bring myself to watch the news.

We need to work with France and other countries to stamp out terrorism. We also need to work with non EU countries like Russia and the USA. We need to stand together to stop terrorism.

250 people were killed in Bagdad on 3 July in a terrorist attack.

We dont need to do anything about that?

What should we do Now?

The same things you're coming up with for France. ISIS did it to Baghdad. Yes..they bomb other Muslims too. At least pretend to give a shit.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/07/2016 12:25

We are engaged in the fight against Isis in Iraq, and that's (obviously) where working together with the U.S. and Russia are particularly relevant. Having concern for our nearest neighbours doesn't imply we don't give a shit about anywhere else. Hmm

Ohwhatalovelysummer · 15/07/2016 12:27

Why do you presume we dont give a shit about the awful attacks in Baghdad Now? Horrific insensitive generalisation by you and today is not the time. Tomorrow? Maybe, but not today.

SoleBizzz · 15/07/2016 12:34

Can't see your sympathy either Now maybe you don't give a shit about France

Well NowWhat does have a point ........

Friends on Facebook are changing their profile pictures yet again to the tricolour but their wasn't a peep when people died in Baghdad.

I get that the attacks in France are 'closer to home' for many of us and deeply shocking. We're not used to seeing images of massacres on our European Streets whereas we have largely become desensitised to such images being broadcast from the Middle East.

It just seems a bit pointless however to say 'we must unite against terrorists' if there is only an appetite to address half the problem.

Im sorry Girl, I disagree, I have actually seen many references to baghdad and istanbul, along with flags and imagery on facebook profiles.

I don't recall your post about Baghdad, NowWhat1983. Can you point us to it?

I think you are being unfair, I saw a lot on fb about Baghdad.

Agree the media coverage is less but that is not our call.

We're not uniting with our neighbour's though, we're disuniting with them.

It's horrific

However, instead of "standing with" france I think that these attacks will continue unless we learn from france's mistakes (and our own) - huge communities in france are disenfranchised, this breeds extremism. Tacking this is how we tackle terrorism, it isn't some remote enemy, we're creating generations who don't feel they belong or have purpose without joining an extremist group.

My thoughts and sympathies go to all the bereaved families.
Terrorism is never the answer
We are all people, people who feel pain and people with feelings no matter what our colour or faith or our standing in this world.
Stop the fighting where does it get anyone except dead.

Er Yes we are What about the IRA? ETA in Spain? Bader Meinhof in Germany?
The IRA used to give warnings and none were suicide bombers though
