Regret my vote 2

(37 Posts)
lulucappuccino Sun 26-Jun-16 21:58:16

I don't seem to be able to post on the other thread. I guess it's full.

I heartily regret my vote to leave.

I've seen images and stories of xenophobia on the streets today. I'm appalled. I never voted because of immigration. I'm a Sicilian immigrant.

I despise Johnson and Farage. They are liars.

HopeClearwater Sun 26-Jun-16 21:59:28

Why are you starting a second thread on this?

pickledpears Sun 26-Jun-16 22:00:55

Didn't you start the first thread and hardly contribute to it, past your initial few posts?

lulucappuccino Sun 26-Jun-16 22:01:45

Many reasons.

Some people said "Don't worry, it'll be fine.", others claim troll. It's not; I'm not.

SaltyGoodness Sun 26-Jun-16 22:03:05

I work in one of the most Guardian-reading, bien-pensant metropolitan elite etc etc workplaces you could ever find.

I voted LEAVE and am very happy with my decision.

I keep a fairly buttoned-up lip at work as my colleagues are so fucking shrill and intolerant. They say they're for "openness and inclusion". Are they fuck.

lulucappuccino Sun 26-Jun-16 22:03:36

That's right, pickled. I've just logged in again.

lulucappuccino Sun 26-Jun-16 22:06:12

I've received PMs from people in exactly the same position. They're so full of regret that they can't even eat. I completely understand this. We don't want sympathy, but we do need to talk, say sorry, all that shit. Too little too late, but that's that.

SaltyGoodness Sun 26-Jun-16 22:07:02

Sorry if you have regrets, but with a majority of 1 million +, that's not in any way meaningful.

Luckymummy22 Sun 26-Jun-16 22:13:55

I have no sympathy for you at all.

I am in fact very angry with you.

My children's life has been spoiled because of your stupidty.
We have people fearful now as they are being attacked.
City of London will be decimated.
The UK broken up forever.
We are the laughing stock of the world.
Would you invest I'm an inward looking Xenophobic country (it must he how we are perceived)

We are in a downward spiral who knows how far we go down.

But it's ok, you made a mistake which every bloody one of us will pay for dearly.

lulucappuccino Sun 26-Jun-16 22:16:08

Why on earth are you happy happy with that decision, * Salty*? I feel crushing guilt. I don't understand how you can't. We've damaged the economy, society, the future. I know this seems like hyperbole, but its the truth. I feel sick to the core.

lastnightiwenttomanderley Sun 26-Jun-16 22:21:26

I haven't seen the other thread but, if you're regretting your vote because of xenophobia but immigration wasn't a factor in your decision making, why did you choose to vote leave?
Presumably you must have had reasons, or is it that these have also subsequently been discredited?

Badders123 Sun 26-Jun-16 22:25:56

Cry me a fucking river, op

Luckymummy22 Sun 26-Jun-16 22:29:14

The really sad thing is I don't think you'll be alone. There probably enough of you to actually make it a remain win.

I know of 2 at Westminster who led the campaign. ..........

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/eu_referendum_2016_/2671336-Why-I-Voted-to-Leave-the-EU?pg=1

Don't regret your decision, just state your reasons for voting leave like I have.

BMW6 Sun 26-Jun-16 22:30:56

Bullshit.

Anyone who GENUINELY regretted their vote would post once if at all.

Posting multiple times and to top it all starting another thread about it is over egging the pudding.

You are either a liar or an attention seeking prat. Bog off.

SaltyGoodness Sun 26-Jun-16 22:31:02

hmm I'm happy with my decision because I genuinely believe it's the best route for our country, and I don't believe it's going to lead to the dire economic outcomes you - and others - fear.

SaltyGoodness Sun 26-Jun-16 22:37:01

And I am entirely unfazed by accusations of 'xenophobia'. That's an irrational fear of other races and I am demonstrably - it's the internet but you'll have to trust me on this - not afraid of other races. Heartily sick of having that one thrown at anyone who voted Leave!

gunting Sun 26-Jun-16 22:38:55

Do you actually regret your vote or are you just another Daily Fail journalist?

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve Sun 26-Jun-16 22:42:32

You need to leave it alone now op.

sesseme Sun 26-Jun-16 22:45:44

I don't believe you op. Your just one of the people trying to get sympathy by joining the Mn wagon on how bad leave is. Boho! Cry me a river. I will pass you the tissue, not!

lulucappuccino Sun 26-Jun-16 22:50:24

Not a Fail journo, not after sympathy. Just encouraged to know that there are others in the same boat and hopefully this will be overruled.

I voted out because of the £350m per week, which out turns out was a lie. I feel betrayed. Horrendously. I am also incredibly ignorant and stupid.

PausingFlatly Sun 26-Jun-16 22:50:39

lulu, would it help to make a list of the consequences you're concerned about, and think what you might do to mitigate some of those?

Eg I don't know if it's one of the things you're worried about, but there's a thread here on fighting racism and xenophobia: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2671372-Nobody-is-Leaving-A-non-referendum-thread-about-how-we-can-combat-the-increase-in-racism?pg=1

I'm quite concerned about the consequences of both the result and the things said during campaigning.

But I'm also worried self-flagellation may become an end in itself for some people. You personally are only responsible for 1/17 millionth of the Leave vote. In fact, you're only responsible for 1/4 millionth of the margin between Leave and Remain.

I'm not suggesting you refuse to take personal responsibility - everyone's responsible for themselves - just that you see your personal contribution in perspective.

PausingFlatly Sun 26-Jun-16 22:54:38

(And in case it needs stating, I'm not suggesting everyone who voted Leave is a xenophobe or racist. But I do think some of the Leave campaigning deliberately tried to stoke racism and xenophobia.)

Luckymummy22 Sun 26-Jun-16 22:57:47

You didn't believe that load of waffle surely?

Write to you MP. I would like to say if enout bregreter's did that it might be blocked in Parliament.

But the decision is made, no going bacK now.
Let's all hope it's not as bad as imagined.

sesseme Sun 26-Jun-16 22:58:22

voted out because of the £350m per week, which out turns out was a lie. I feel betrayed. Horrendously. I am also incredibly ignorant and stupid. really? This was discussed constantly to death. Where were you? I don't believe this. I hope the referendum stands just to piss people like you off. I am shocked because this was broken down and pointed out how it works. How much went to Europe.

You and your lot deserve what you get.
