Brexit

The weather is on the side of the people

Chucking it down in the East of England. Storms last night. Senior Remain campaigners phoning in minute by minute weather updates to Brussels. To say there is despair among the elite is to do the English language injustice.

Brexiters were out in force, soaked to the skin, some were being carried to the polling booths. As we said "good morning" to each other, there were mentions of "Independence Day" with laughs and winks.

Some Brexiters looked to the Heavens as they chucked down rain upon us and smiled. The Heavens were on our side.

Well it's a lovely sunny morning here in the north west, Claig, you funny old thing Smile

Beautiful here in the south-west too. Perfect, in fact, for a morning stoll the poling station to cast my vote to remain.

It's sunny and warm here. I'll enjoy my walk to vote remain later on. As will everyone I know in real life.

Claig you are brilliant! I wish I knew you in RL. Even though I disagree with a lot of what you "say", I'd have great fun debating with you over massive glasses of wine. We'd have some brilliantly memorable nights out.

Your interest and opinions are always interesting to read. Are you a politician? Desperate to know what job you have!

Let me gets this right: lily-livered Remainers can't take a bit of rain?

Good job I postal voted to Remain, then, I might melt if I get wet, my weak constitution just isn't up to walking to a polling booth.

Postal voted remain ages ago. Weather irrelevant. Wish you were here.

Oh, not that last bit.

It's glorious sunshine here in the NE

It's beautiful weather here and I know lots of Remain voters who have already been to vote this morning in their way to work. I'm about to go as well, just need to find my sunglasses...

'Are you a politician?'

How dare you! To accuse me of being one of that lot of self-serving suckups abd deceiving rascals should be beyond Talk Guidelines on any self-respecting Forum.

I run my own small business, doing an honest day's work for an honest day's pay, not like the Westminster schmoozers, greasers and toffs who have their snouts permanently in the trough.

It's a pretty nice day where I am in Scotland.

But just so you know, I'd dig my way through snow drifts to vote Remain if necessary.

"Elite" - for goodness sake, who do you think Boris and Nigel are? Or represent? Hmm

I'm in The SE and the weather will affect turnout I think (it always does) especially where there is a mainly elderly population. I also think Leave voters will be more incentivised to actually vote to achieve the change whereas status who brings with it a tiny element of apathy/complacency

I'm away to vote, in the rain, to LEAVE.

Sorry Claig! I'll go and bleach my brain for even considering it.

Am in London, and following last nights storm it looks set to be dry here today..... I don't care which way people vote (have been leave for ages, but now am undecided now I have to make the decision!!!), as long as people get out and vote.

Would it be a complete cop out to spoil my ballot paper? Hmm

"EU referendum polling day weather: storm clouds could have silver lining for Leave campaign"

While a source for the Remain campaign added: "This is the biggest decision our country will take for a generation but one of the few things not on the ballot paper is the British weather.

"We hope for a nice day so that as many people as possible are able to go and cast their vote in such an important decision while the sun is shining."

There are reports of tears and tantrums in Westminster and Brussels bureaucrats are apparently walking around in a daze with their head in their hands.

Pubs have free flowing beer on tap as the people celebrate, the elite bite their nails as all they have left is to worry and wait.

'Would it be a complete cop out to spoil my ballot paper?'

Yes, because that would mean your vote won't count. You know what they want you to vote, so do the opposite, vote with the people. You have only got this one chance. If they escape by the skin of their teeth, they may never offer us this chance again.

I know that after how this referendum has played out, the nation will never be offered a referendum on anything ever again.....

Part of me is scared of the consequences of voting leave, and equally scared of voting remain! At least it will be exciting to see what does actually happen if the country votes to leave....... (I like to live dengeroulsy! Wink)

Unfortunately I hate Boris and Nigel, and really wish they weren't spearheading the leave campaign. I do love Kate Hooey, she used to by my MP and I think she's fabulous.

All of the exit polls are showing that there is literally a % point between the leave and remain votes. So with it being that close, if the final result was leave by that margin, would politicians heed the result?

Well, it might be stormy in the South where the political elite live Wink but up here in the North where the People are, it's warm and dry.

Remain - a bas les twats!

'I do love Kate Hooey'

Me too. She is excellent. Common sense, such a rare thing among the cast of cronies in Westminster.

'would politicians heed the result?'

Good question. They rarely heed what the people say, but now they are very weak, their credibility and support among the people is collapsing which means their old game of ignoring the public will no longer be possible.

The entire EU will be shaken to its core even if we vote Remain. Nothing will ever be the same. The whole world is watching us and seeing that the tiny clique who rule us do not have the support of millions and millions of people.

The genie is out of the bottle, and the people's wish will one day hold sway.
