Copied from a Facebook post by Calvin Morris.

A good friend of mine came up with a great idea. If you don't have the time/inclination to find out all the facts about the EU referendum (I don't blame you) and are possibly unsure which way to vote, perhaps knowing how other notable people are thinking could help out.

Here are a few that strongly believe the UK should remain a member of the EU:

• Governor of the Bank of England
• International Monetary Fund
• Institute for Fiscal Studies
• Confederation of British Industry
• Leaders/heads of state of every single other member of the EU
• President of the United States of America
• Eight former US Treasury Secretaries
• President of China
• Prime Minister of India
• Prime Minister of Canada
• Prime Minister of Australia
• Prime Minister of Japan
• Prime Minister of New Zealand
• The chief executives of most of the top 100 companies in the UK including Marks and Spencer, BT, Asda, Vodafone, Virgin, IBM, BMW etc.
• Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of the United Nations
• All living former Prime Ministers of the UK (from both parties)
• Virtually all reputable and recognised economists
• The Prime Minister of the UK
• The leader of the Labour Party
• The Leader of the Liberal Democrats
• The Leader of the Green Party
• The Leader of the Scottish National Party
• The leader of Plaid Cymru
• Leader of Sinn Fein
• Martin Lewis, that money saving dude off the telly
• The Secretary General of the TUC
• Unison
• National Union of Students
• National Union of Farmers
• Stephen Hawking
• Chief Executive of the NHS
• 300 of the most prominent international historians
• Director of Europol
• David Anderson QC, Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation
• Former Directors of GCHQ
• Secretary General of Nato
• Church of England
• Church in Scotland
• Church in Wales
• Friends of the Earth
• Greenpeace
• Director General of the World Trade Organisation
• WWF
• World Bank
• OECD

Here are pretty much the only notable people who think we should leave the EU:

• Boris Johnson, who probably doesn’t really care either way, but knows he’ll become Prime Minister if the country votes to leave
• A former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions who carried out a brutal regime of cuts to benefits and essential support for the poorest in society as well as the disabled and sick
• That idiot that was Education Secretary and every single teacher in the country hated with a furious passion for the damage he was doing to the education system
• Leader of UKIP
• BNP
• Britain First
• Donald Trump
• Keith Chegwin
• David Icke

So, as I said, if you can’t be bothered to look into the real facts and implications of all this in/out stuff, just pick the list that you most trust and vote that way. It really couldn’t be more simple.

And if you are unsure about leaving, don't.

Please repost this list, if you think it might help.

I that just looks like more remain propaganda to me.

It doesn't say things like 'warmongerer' Tony Blair under the 'remain' list does it?

Not at all one sided is it?????

Martin Lewis is almost ambivalent about it. 55/45 in favour of remain.

Martin Lewis, that money saving dude off the telly

He hasn't 'come out' for either 'side' as Giddy says.

In fact that he has had a go at Remain for using him in their leaflet.

I don't think for many it's about what is right for the UK it's about what happens if the EU falls apart

Which ever country from the wealthiest go first others will follow it's just about who will go first now and we are in a position to

I can add Rupert Murdoch and the Dyson bloke to the leave side.

Someone like Stephen Hawkin is a quite a credible person on the remain side. Presumably because of the scientific research angle.

cool Martin Lewis stated he'd vote for remain on balance because he is anti risk and believes that leaving is a greater risk and would lead to less money in your pocket.

You know when you say to your DC "if your friends jumped off a cliff would you do it too..."

Of course the above (the elite, the ones who benefit from the gravy train) want to Remain because it suits their purpose. The question is, does it suit my purpose?

Report
chicaguapa · 15/06/2016 09:27

Martin Lewis said he is risk averse so will vote remain. It doesn't matter if he's 50.5% in favour of remaining. It's the cross in the box that matters.

right purits so former public school boy and trader Nigel Farage is not part of the elite? And Donald Trump? Not to mention Gove.

The list says 'strongly remain'.

He has stated he isn't a 'strong' remain. He has as already said heavily criticised them for using him in publicity.

You have clearly never spent any time in a STEM university department if you think it's a haven of sensible political thinking.

I disagree. The questions are:

What ideological motivation do these supporters on both sides have?
And
What do they know that I don't?

That isn't a remain bit of bias going on there at all is it OP?

Where are the derogatory paragraphs of some of those strong Remainers then?

It is quite a biased list. Let's make it fair. Who shall we add to the exit side? I've added 2 below. I think Dyson man is respected, isn't he?

Of course we know he is an extremely wealthy man it's not the same thing

I'll add that vile man who banned books from prison, whatever his name is. He's on the exit side.

I do feel that a lot of the names on the remain list are responsible for us being in the position of thinking that the EU is the cause of all our problems. As they haven't done a particularly good job up to now they aren't weighty inclusions on the remain list.

ooh, I've spotted this on another thread. Reasons to Remain:

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.
Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.
Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, the same company who have trashed our steel works and emptied the workers pension funds.
Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.
Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.
M&S manufacturing gone to far east with EU loan.
Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents all with with EU grants.
Gillette gone to eastern Europe with EU grant.
Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.
Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.
Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.
Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.
ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK, were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs
Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.
JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU 'regeneration' grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer. They also raided the pension fund and drained it dry.
UK airports are owned by a Spanish company.
Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.
Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies.
The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.
Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it's Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.
39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU
The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria. His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK. The bicycle for the Greens was made in the far east, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.

Yes, there are far too many odious people on the out side. I would never want to share a platform with any one of them.

Report
Notbigandnotclever · 15/06/2016 10:45

I think we would see a LOT more big companies move completely if we brexit personally as there is no reason for them to have HQ in London if we aren't in the EU. Many companies do their EU trading from UK based HQ due to the language advantages.

It doesn't say things like 'warmongerer' Tony Blair under the 'remain' list does it?

Blair is on there as sadly he comes under All living former Prime Ministers of the UK (from both parties)

If we wanted to take ALL the tossers off we would also have to remove "prime minister of the UK" amongst others.
