Going to a friends wedding next weekend, do you think I should still order buttonhole and corsage for handbag as I always did few years ago? Do most guests still buy there own, thinking will look underdressed and like don't know how to look for the occasion if I don't buy them.

Ordered, looking forward to wearing tomorrow. Let's hope the day all goes well for her!!

North Scotland, never mind. Will just make sure I drink enough to make up for all this hassle!

Ah now, come on... Someone was called out on their sub standard present and dispatched to buy a more suitable one? No way.

ISeeTheLight Fri 14-Sep-18 12:06:01

My god they sound like hard work. They could stick their present up their arse along with the corsage.
Where are you OP? I've been to weddings up and down the country and never come across this.

Thankfully don't plan on keeping in touch post wedding

travelinterest Fri 14-Sep-18 12:00:14

Another friend going to the wedding was told hers wasn't good enough blush

Justmuddlingalong Fri 14-Sep-18 11:49:35

Another present, why?

travelinterest Fri 14-Sep-18 11:30:14

Glad to be covered, nervous about going with all of these rules she's specifying at the last minute. Away to buy another present too....

travelinterest Fri 14-Sep-18 11:26:52

It's to be a lavish affair, she's an only child and her dad is funding it

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar Fri 14-Sep-18 11:23:30

Ah well, they won’t find you wanting grin 🌷🌹🥀

travelinterest Fri 14-Sep-18 11:20:52

They just said they'd be a bit offended if we hadn't gone to the effort, they said they thought it was the done thing!

In Scotland and at a wedding last weekend and they are very much still a thing. I had a wrist corsage,
As did a lot of the other women

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar Fri 14-Sep-18 11:14:54

And they expected this, you say? Bit cheeky, tbh

travelinterest Fri 14-Sep-18 11:12:43

2 pink lilies for handbag, red carnation buttonhole and an orange gerbera wrist corsage for daughter.

happymummy12345 Fri 14-Sep-18 11:12:10

We got corsages for all guests. Double red roses for groom best man and father of bride. Single red rose for ring bearer. White corsage for mother of bride. Ivory corsage for mother of groom. And carnations for the rest of the guests.
I think it looks cheap to not give all guests a flower to wear.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar Fri 14-Sep-18 11:07:03

Well, I haven’t either but it seems to be a Scottish thing?

yikesanotherbooboo Fri 14-Sep-18 10:55:56

Never heard of this and have been to dozens of weddings over5 decades, no need OP

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar Fri 14-Sep-18 10:41:39

Oh, that’s good. Enjoy your day smile
What colour, btw?

travelinterest Fri 14-Sep-18 09:39:56

Just spoke to the couple this morning, and they said more than happy (actually they would expect us to wear them to look weddingy), so hope this clears up things for others too! smilesmilewine

Ordering one for handbag now, "finishes" off the ensemble nicely for a wedding, that extra touch you've shown a bit more effort. I had thought about a wrist one but maybe a bit too fancy! Thanks again

TimesNewRoman Thu 13-Sep-18 21:34:52

Its definitely still been the done thing at the Scottish weddings I've been at recently. Young and old. These are probably more "country" weddings if that makes a difference. Go for it, it's a nice touch.

runsmidgeOMG Thu 13-Sep-18 21:01:34

I don't know, when I got married 6 years ago a couple of my friends had them. West Midlands close to welsh border. Maybe not he done thing by all but I don't think it causes any harm either - I think they're pretty smile

stressedoutpa Thu 13-Sep-18 20:39:49

Bridal party only.

I think you'd look a bit outdated with a corsage and flower thing for the handbag personally.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar Thu 13-Sep-18 20:19:14

I think that would be much nicer. Enjoy your day! 👒🌸🌺

travelinterest Thu 13-Sep-18 20:08:18

Oh now... I've got a nice big hat with flower on brim of it, think that would be ok then? And save the hassle of getting corsage on day?
