Neighbours that we've never met have invited us to a Christmas gathering with wine and nibbles, which sounds lovely.

What should I take - it would feel wrong to arrive empty handed!

I would take something to eat like a nice nut selection or perhaps a nice Christmas fruit cake.

Bottle of wine

We are having one - am hoping that at least 30% of people bring some drink. Not hoping for nuts confused

A bottle of something and a plant

We have one of these Xmas eve. We always state bring a bottle and we provide soft drinks and nibbles. Sometimes people bring food (we have one lady who makes the most amazing polish cakes) some bring me a bottle of wine aswel as whatever they're drinking. TBH we don't expect anything so are delighted with anything

Cat - you can come to my party grin

A bottle of something nice.
Not nuts - if you don't know them it would be awkward if they are dangerously allergic.

Or worse confused

I would take a bottle of something.

Only if you have a 'speciality recipe' and lots of time on your hands, you could whip up a tray of stolen, or rum truffles, or something, but generally a bottle would be fine

Box of choco/biscuits for the hosts, or a bottle of wine to crack open.

A bottle, chocolates, flowers. I would probably take 2 of these things.

I am going to one and taking a bottle (as requested) and a beautiful Christmas bauble as a gift.

For some reason I didn't get any alerts to say there were replies, how very rude of me not to come back on an etiquette thread blush

DH had to go on his own because one of our children is ill, but he took a Christmas card and a naice bottle of wine. Sounds like we got it right though!

Thanks for your replies!
