Where to buy a second hand mobile phone?

Sadly, I really need a new smart-phone - I use mine for work, but it's so old, it keeps crashing and the screen flashes.

However, I'm trying to be more conscious of my purchases, and I know that the way mobiles are made is bad for both the environment and human rights.
Ideally, I'd love a 'Fairphone' (the seemingly most-ethical smartphone) but I can't afford one.

So, I think, instead of buying a cheap new phone, - I might buy a second-hand phone - in this way, it won't cost too much and I won't be contributing directly to the environmental/human rights problems (though I do recognise that this isn't a perfect solution).

Anyway... (putting aside my moral-dilemma-inner-dialogue) .... - does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for where I may purchase a second-hand phone?

Also, any suggestions of phone brands/models which are particularly durable would be appreciated! (and a decent camera would be nice!)?

try music magpie, they allow people to sell their used phones to them, refurbish them and then sell them on second hand. They currently have a nokia 8.1 smartphone on for £194 (will attach a review for that below too, but it seems to fit what you are looking for) x

Thanks for all the replies! I am a bit wary of CEX, - as I ended up buying my DP two mini iPod things from there, both of which broke soon after aquiring.

@sleepismysuperpower1 (love your username!) - that looks good! Never had a Nokia smartphone (only the 3210!!), so it's an interesting option.

@sofiaaaaaa - I'm probably thinking of spending around £125-£175? Definitely not over £225. (Though I'm not 100% sure if this is a sensible budget as I haven't really looked at the price of second-hand phones yet....? ...and I suppose I would be willing to pay more if it guarantees a longer-lasting/more durable model...)

Okay. I’m an Apple user so not sure about android devices, but the iPhone 6S is in budget at around £100, and the iPhone 8 is around £200. There’s also a model in-between (iPhone 7). I’m just going off the prices on google, I haven’t looked in depth at the listings.

All devices support the latest operating system, but the 6S wouldn’t be as future-proof. The 8 will generally be faster, more durable and have a better lifespan because it will be supported by apple for longer. It has a better camera and features such as wireless charging. I’m not sure how important those features are to you, perhaps watch video reviews on YouTube and see if any are suitable?

I recently bought a refurbished iPhone 8 from Giff Gaff, arrived quickly and has been great.

Envirophone. They're great. I've bought my last two iPhones from them.
