Washing survey

I had a discussion with someone at work about this (yes I know I live a sad life) and it got me thinking about what is 'normal' so I thought I'd do a survey.

Roughly how many loads of washing a week do you do and how many people live in your house?

I do 2 or 3 and there's 3 of us (2 adults, 1 18month old).

I do on average 1 load a day, more if I change beds. If I dont do 1 a day and I fall behind great washing mayhem occurs! Weekends I may have to do 2 a day to keep up with pe kits and school uniform.
I dont iron just shake hard and fold!

oh there are 6 of us

Oh my goodness, there are two adults and three children 5,3 and 1 and I wash at least once a day mostly twice and I use the dryer - oh the shame, I want to be good I really do!

Like Ecmo if I miss a day all hell breaks loose and the utility room disappears under piles of dirty washing.

I have four boys, one in reusable nappies alot of the time and a dirty tree surgeon for a DH.

I do, on average, two loads a day, but I do line dry or use my airers and keep my tumble dryer use to a minimum.

So 14-15 loads a week

2 adults one 5 yr old

usually about five or six loads

bedclothes
whites
2 dark coloured
red/ pink (we have a lot of those-enough for a load)
towels etc

HOWEVER washing machine does have a short wash programme, which we use most of the time, and limits amount of water used if load is small

don't tumble unless things are needed in a hurry, hang things on racks in the spare room

2 adults and 2 children.
Between 5 and 7 loads, depends on whether my son has wet the bed or not (we can go weeks without him doing it then suddenly he does it once or three times in a row).

We have no drier.

Wow so so far I'm below average. I don't have a drier either. I don't know how some of you have time to do so much (but then I can imagine the chaos if you didn't!)

debs - it's the washing machine that does the work though isn't it. I tend to spot wash clothes, unless of course thay are really dirty.

5 washes a week or so.

2 adults, 3 children (3, 5, 7) with 3 year old still wetting the bed.

A lot less than when we were washing nappies, and hope it will decline more, but at thee moment ds needs his school uniform washing after one wear!

We dont have a tumbler, so the house is draped in wet washing when its wet (like today). I love line drying, the clothes smell fab!

Report
Hulababy · 20/09/2007 17:40

2 adults, 1 5yo
