Does anyone use a 'natural' deodorant that actually works?

I am fed up of trying different deodorants and them not working. Ok, I'll admit, I do sweat a lot, but there must be something out there to help. I nearly gave up and went back to Mitchum, until I heard a dibate on Jeremy Vine about the increased risk of Breast cancer caused by deodorants. Everything else I use is free of chemicals, aluminium, SLS etc, but I am just not convined by the deodorants.

Do you use a natural deodorant and feel it works?

Pit Rok really works. Available in rock or spray form.

The Bionsen range is good and widely available in Boots etc
I glow too and it suits me fine
DS asked me worriedly if my deodorant had aluminium in at the weekend (he's 8). This latest research - not conclusive - seems to have been very widely reported.

I get my in-laws to send me tea-tree oil deodorants from Oz - you can buy them in boots but if you have the relevant contact they are 1/4 the price.

I stopped using any deodorant last year & have found it's been a surprising success. Took a couple of months for my body to balance itself out & I was totally paranoid about smelling for a while...but then it just seemed to get better & am totally happy to never use anything again. I've even persuaded DH to do the same & he used to have a big problem with excessive sweating, wet patches on his shirts, bad smell etc....after an initial settling period like I had he is now smell free and much much less sweaty as well. It's been a real eye-opener & I'm a little annoyed that I've wasted all my money over the years on these products that really aren't necessary.

I tried Arrid cream at the weekend and did the job. Too chicken to try it today though. (Hectic morning)
Bought a deodorant from Lush at the weekend though not tried it yet.

After the tip about Tea Tree deodorants, I just put some tea tree oil onto cotton wool and wiped my pits with it today. It worked better than the deodorant I have at the moment, but not sure of the long term effects of using neat Tea Tree daily. I think its ok, but not sure.

I use a solid block one from lush - cant remember what its called, its lasting forever. They have several different ones - mine smells of lavender and is very effective.

Another vote for Bionsen.

I've recently swithced to it and it keeps me fresh. I originally bought some for dd (9) who has started to need a deodourant and tried it myself.

The aluminium thing is starting to concern me too tbh, although I know they keep saying there's no proof it's dangerous. It just sounds rather unpleasant though. I didn't realise that anti-perspirants used aluminium until recently.

Holland Barrett sell a nice one, aluminium free.

The recent press fuss about this is based on the assertion by a dr that tissue removed from the armpits of women with breast cancer had elevated levels of aluminium in it. He didn't control wrt either tissue from other parts of their bodies, or from the armpits of healthy women. So it's pretty shaky research, frankly.
