Alternative methods of construction?

I know I have whinged about this before but I am really looking for a very cheap way to make a temporary building to house my nursery in.

I know I can buy an off the peg portacabin - but I do worry about the "greeness" of it - transport costs of the finished item; transport costs of the raw & processed materials; whether the materials are sustainable.

Any way I am after a building 9m by 20m (this has changed from last time) and I need it as highly insulated as possible.

It also needs to look 'nice'

Any suggestions?

TIA

imo if you can afford to 'go green' the world is your oyster

How?

I don't think straw bales are the way to go.....but convince me?

I'd try a specialist organisation, someone like the Centre for Alternative Technology or similar, they can probably pint you in the right direction.

I don't use a nursery but if there was one in a yurt I might be tempted! (Don't know what Ofsted would make of it though...)

OK so maybe I'm a very pale shade of green

I just want a log burner/solar power and a low electric bill

Def. try the CAT then, they are the people for solar power etc.
