From their blurb - ^Inside the Ecogenie Bag there are hundreds of tiny ceramic spheres that generate negative ions when they are agitated by water. These negative ions reduce the surface tension of the water (the same way that conventional detergents do). This causes the water to become more forceful, allowing it to penetrate inside dirt and food particles to easily remove them from dishes and utensils, without the need for detergents.

The beads inside the Ecogenie Bag generate up to 98% antibacterial power which sterilizes the water, eliminating pathogen germs, mould and odours from the dishwasher, making your dishware safe and sanitary for you and your family, whilst being easy and convenient to use.^

Well, I only have GCSE chemistry, but that's a load of bunkem.... you may as well just run the dishwasher with no powder and save yourself the tenner for the balls....

Pickle I know what the blurb says, it's the same as the washing machine balks which definitely do work! I was looking for people who'd used the dishwasher bag for opinions

Well, the fact that the washing machine balls work seems to have escaped the rubbish they spout about how they (and detergents, and water) work, and that at least a couple of states in the US have had to stop people selling them because they can't prove they do anything, and generally anyone who stops and thinks about it.

So I believe I can categorically, and truthfully state that they will work as well as the laundry balls do.

Oh, actually, no I can't because the laundry balls actually rumble around in your washing machine (rather like pounding laundry on rocks) so the extra agitation could help a little (I know that I add a couple of balls to the wash when felting to help it work better) - in the dishwasher there will be no extra agitation, so actually, they will likely work a little worse than the laundry balls, but probably not that noticeably worse. since they do nothing anyway
