I have an elderly mum who is on her own after my dad died a year ago, both my grandmothers had dementure and I can see the same thing happening again, I was brought up with no expressions of love from my parents, no hugs, no trust, and now I have no interest in looking after my mum. She lives in a world of denial and fantasy, where everything is OK if you pretend it is. I got her a dog recently but its not going to work, she doesn't train it, or walk it, or even stroke it. I have severe depression and I literally will not be able to look after her, I live 4 hours away, and hate visiting. Her constant negative attitude infuriates me. My own life is enough of a struggle.

Oh that sounds really tough millionsardines. Are you asking about whether she needs to move to supported accomodation?
