I'm due back at work in November, I am on a zero hour contract (which means I don't have any set contracted hours they can tell me to go away unpaid for any length of time with only a weeks notice).
Initially I was thinking of working 3 days a week and trying to get a nursery place paid for by government, but due to my contract type I'm not sure that is a good idea how flexible is the government nursery payment scheme and nurseries themselves, as to changes in attendance as my work only needs to give 1 weeks notice when you are going to be zero'd.
I am now thinking of not bothering with nursery and working the 1-2 days a week DF is off work instead as I am worried about not being in work/paid but having a nursery contract and government payments to try and stop.
Also how would the tax credits work out when I don't have set weekly hours? I can't put down an annual salary, if I do work 1-2 days a week one of them will be the odd weekend OT.
