Paid work during ML?

I understand that you can work for up to 10 days during your maternity leave.

I would really like to do this as I have a funny job that will be difficult to cover, also don't want to totally give up control while I'm away. I was thinking of doing maybe one day a week over a couple of months near the end of my ML.

How does it work? Has anybody done it? Do you get paid for the days you work? Also, do they give you back the days 'in leiu' at the end of your ML? Also, do employers generally like or dislike you working in ML?

I would still do it even it it was unpaid tbh, I just wondered how it was usually managed.
