How much do you pay your cleaner per hour?

We are looking for a new cleaner and have previously paid our cleaner £11 an hour. My husband feels this is too much and wants to reduce it to £7 for a new cleaner. What do you pay yours?

£7 that's what she charges, we didn't negotiate that fee. We are in Worcestershire and she is not agency (but is legit - declaring etc).

How do you know if she is declaring or not?

One of my friends is also a client of hers and helps her with her books (she is an accountant)

£8 an hour. She lives about 15 miles away from us though so I pay her for 4 hours of cleaning and an extra £8 for petrol.

Once a week.

No agency fee as she was recommended by a friend.

Ok thanks. Maybe £7 isn't so bad then.

what has she said she charges? it's unusual for you to specify the amount isn't it?

also depends where you are, how far she travels, any parking cost/cost of transport incurred? how long and how often? (the longer and more often you have her the cheaper she'll probably be).

We will advertise for a cleaner and set the price in the ad.

£8.50 per hour, cash. She sets the rate and puts it up occasionally. I thought £10 was closer to the norm but having read this thread I'm starting to wonder...

Really depends on area - I paid more in N Yorks than I did in SW London. £7 is good - £14 is high!

We pay £35 for our weekly clean through an agency, this is supposed to be 2 people for 2 hours but is more like 2 people for 1-1.5 hours however the house gets cleaned and I am just too busy to look for an alternative that I can trust

That could be the same agency I used Pickupyourpants - £45 that was pretty much under the hour -got shot of them after a few months
