Well, the bus I was following today said (I think) £8.65 per hour, plus overtime, weekend pay, free uniform (woo) and free travel on London Underground.

Obviously the bus didn't say this, I don't live in Toytown... But a transfer on the back window did!

Thank you! I guess as we are not in london it would be less than that.

I'm trying to remember lol it wasn't superb but it wasn't bad. The best bit was he got a free pass and one for me too so it saved us a fortune in bus fare! He left because he couldn't stand the way the passengers and school kids treated/spoke to him like he was a piece of crap. I'll go and look for a payslip.
It does vary though... i think the wages are slightly higher for big towns/cities

Oh, the other downside is we now owe stagecoach about 700 quid because after they train you, if you leave within a certain time ( a year or 18months i think) you have to pay back the training!!

I enquired about this for my dp recently Charlie and neither were any good for us as it woul mean a drop in money.

I can't remember exactly how much they were offering but dp earns £14500 now and it was less than that.

course you can! He did all sorts of shifts from starting at 5 in the morning to finishing after midnight. They tended to put him on the small inner town routes when he was new as well which drove him insane!!

jeesus, we are on 27.000 at the mo, I was thinking a drop but not half of that. Most of dps wages are eaten up in CSA payments

Yeah, used to be a long distance driver, now office bod in the company he used to drive for, cant stand being with the boss all day and he never sees the kids (or me) working his life away just so we have 50 quid to buy food with, its daft.

In Glasgow bus drivers get around £14500 p/a, but it's shift work, including weekend, bank hols, no sick pay for first 3 days, very family unfriendly.

My dh is a bus driver for stagecoach, he earns just under £13,000 a year. He's been doing it for 3-4 months now and loves it. A huge pay drop from the navy but he's a different man....less stressed and home Stagecoach paid for his bus driving test though if he leaves before a certain time he has to pay a ertain amount of that back.

Now that he has the bus lcense he will have the option to drive coaches if he wants to leave stagecoach which pays ALOT more!

oh forgot to mention he and you would get a buss pass that entitles you to use buses free of charge well satgecoach and arriva.

I've never used mine ....much to in love with the idea of being able to stick my two in the car fasten them in....so there at least in one place for short time and go somewhere ...anywhere!
My dh now wants rid of the car as he is deluded into thinking the bus is much easier and cost affective. Have told him NO CHANCE
