Freelance writing - how do you do it?

I'm good at writing and have wanted to pursue freelance writing for awhile, but I have absolutely no idea of how to go about it, where to get clients, what I can expect from this, etc. etc.

I'm going mad! Any experienced freelancers who can shed some light please?
